I’ve always liked dewalt tools. The blower is very lightweight and powerful. The trimmer is great because there is no gas to deal with and no silly pull cord. You just pull the trigger and it goes. It also stays cleaner due to not having gas and oil leaking all over it.

I've been slowly replacing my random assortment of garage tools to one standard, DEWALT. The string trimmer was a vast improvement over my old Ryobi. The string comes in larger (cheaper) packages and is far more durable. I went from having to use 6'+ of string per lawn cutting day with the Ryobi to under 2' with DEWALT. The blower works, but seems unimpressive for how quickly it will kill your battery. The battery is probably the biggest issue if you're just getting into this brand. You'll definitely want to get 2 or 3 LARGE batteries. They come in two packs on sale quite often. If I could go back in time I'd try to find this deal, but with a stronger blower. This is still a nice deal when they have it on sale.

This is my third battery powered weed eater. However, it’s my first DeWalt weed eater. If you have a collection of other DeWalt batteries, then this is the one to get! It cuts nearly as well as a gas powered weed eater. I have a very large yard with numerous trees, shrubs, flowerbeds and buildings. I discharged three batteries and I was gave out too! Recharged them, and me, last night and will tackle the rest of the yard today. I recommend this only if you have other DeWalt batteries. If I were to purchase another brand, it must come with two batteries! Down side: the grass catcher is too small and I was covered in grass. My others didn’t do this but they don’t have the power this one has. More expensive than other weed eaters. I am hoping since it’s DeWalt that I will get what I paid for! Upside: nice balance and easy to use. It wasn’t excessively tiresome. I like the blower. Very simple to use and handles great. It consumes the battery fast though. Battery life is key to any battery powered weed eater. DeWalt ion batteries interchange.

The trimmer does not have a lot of power against any tough weeds. If you are trimming grass along the edge of your house, sidewalks , or fence, this is awesome. It get the job done with no smoke or noise (just the whiz of the line).

They arrived quickly and undamaged. I used the the trimmer first and it works great. I have an old electric trimmer and it was so nice to not have to deal with extension cords. I have a lot of over growth in my yard and it had no problem cutting it down. It says in the instruction not to use as an edger but I only used it that way for a short period of time along my driveway, it did an ok job with that. Out of the box, the poles are attached with a cable tie to hold the two poles together. It was a bit difficult to put the poles together but once they are tighten down they stayed together. I also left the cable tie on incase I decide to store it folded up. For now I will just hang it as it is. The tap and go line feed is great, but then I've only used it twice. The blower worked better than I expected. I read some where, while researching blowers, to look for no less than 400 CFM (blowing pressure) because then it won't push the wet stuff well at all. That's why I didn't get the cheaper $20.00 to $60.00 blowers. I haven't used it on anything wet yet, even though it has rained a lot this year in Michigan. Trees just started dropping leaves, so we will see how it goes when they are all over the yard. I also want to try it on snow this year as well. The intake of air is in the back, which I wanted, because of a comment from a purchaser, on one of the cheaper blowers, stated that theirs was on the left side of the motor and it kept sucking their shirt into it while in use. So I'm glad the in take of air is in the back. When looking at cordless tools, look at the battery that comes with it. Most are are 20V, but look for the ampage (length of time it runs), mine came with a 4amp battery, which I made sure it had a full charge before using. I used it on the trimmer and the blower the same day. It still had a good charge after 30 minutes. So I would look for at least a 4amp battery. I did buy a couple of extra DEWALT 6amp batteries, incase I want to go longer. But then I also have the DEWALT cordless pole saw (haven't used it yet), hand drill, driver and a jig saw, so wanted extra batteries. Hope this helps.

This Dewalt blower/trimmer package replaced the 40v Ryobi units I had when the battery stopped working - dropped it. Three reasons I went with Dewalt: made in America (yup - all others in this package deal price category are made in Communist China & other foreign lands - I checked) + replacement batteries are half the price of ones sold under Ryobi and most other labels + top user reviews. The Dewalt trimmer works better. I use it for lawn edging, too, even though the manual warns against it. It works as an edger just fine, but eats up more line. Hand stringing the Dewalt trimmer is a big P.I.T.A. My advice is buy prestrung spools - more expensive, but less gray hair & swearing. The Dewalt blower is 20mph less powerful, but has a broader swath that distributes m than my old Ryobi, but it pushes grass clippings back onto my lawn without clumping a whole lot better. Not sure if Dewalt makes a reducer nozzle to attach to the wide blower tube, but if it doesn't then it should so you can get a more powerful, narrow stream of focused air. There are a variety of reasons we why this would be useful for driveway crevice scouring, blowing out gutters, unclogging downspouts, and many more yard maintenance functions. If you're listening Dewalt and take me up on this suggestion, you owe me one of these reducers and a lifetime supply of prestrung trimmer spools. As for battery life, I cannot attest to that, since my Dewalt tools arrived 2 months ago. However, the 20v batteries are sugnificantly less expensive to buy compared to what other manufacturers sell their batteries for.Hope this helps in making your decision to get Dewalt lawn products.
