Only fits older 1in steel forks, not 1in alloy which are slightly thicker. Got jammed in my fork and nearly ruined it. Look elsewhere if you have 1in alloy fork (more common on modern kids bikes)

It is exactly what I needed to install my new forks on an older frame

these worked great for repairing the ladder to my motorhome roof. The ladder is now solidly attached to my motorhome.

This is normally used to secure a threadless headset steering tube, but I modified it for something else.I could not mount a bicycle front fender to the front fork the normal way because the fork crown had no hole where brakes would be mounted - it has cantilever bosses. Bike is a classic custom Tom Richey and I did not want to spoil its beautiful appearance by drilling the fork to accept fender hardware. The (old style) fork steering tube does have a hole underneath the fork crown, but the inside diameter was too small for this star nut. I filed and ground down the "wings" of the nut until it would press fit into the lower end of the steering tube. Then with a stainless button head screw and some washers, I could secure the fender invisibly from underneath. The result is clean and was worth the hassle of hand fitting.
