Installed this on two different cars, and both required alignment afterward. Installed without problems, and function perfectly, but the alignments turn this into a much more expensive repair. These obviously are not machined to the exact same orientation as the original.

How to install in under 10 minutes and it fits like a glove. Normally I do admit that I go for motorcraft but I am so glad I made the exception here. This is a good quality and my strange, intermittent freeway steering wheel vibrations disappear upon installation.Thank you dorman for making such a wonderful product!Just a little note for anyone who is having issues getting the top of the shaft into the upper shaft coming from the steering wheel, use a little hammer and gently tap it in and be sure to take a wide blade screwdriver or a wedge type tool to help spread the fitting... If that makes any sense?

Be aware of Ford Safety Recall 13S08, these Crown Vic vehicles have known and serious issues with the joints seizing and the upper shaft coming apart causing complete loss of steering control. Find the recall online and read through it prior to repair. Check all joints and pay special attention to the upper shaft support bearing under the dash before attempting repair as per recall or take vehicle to a Ford dealer if you're not a certified and licensed technician.I used this lower steering shaft to fix a sticking u-joint on my factory shaft, it fit just like the original, looks and feels like a quality piece and my steering is no longer binding. Would recommend.
