Did the CAD delete on my 1994 YJ. I installed this to get the 4x4 light back & it worked right away - 4x4 light back!

I have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4.0. When I engage 4wd it would work except the dash light would not turn on.After installing this, which was easy once I cleared out the 22 years of rust and garbage, now it lights up each time and engage 4wd!

I can't really knock it because I used it for something other than what it was advertised to be used for. It may well work fine for the intended model. What it doesn't work for is to convert a Jeep YJ 4WD indicator light from vacuum to electric activation. It worked fine outside of the vehicle. When I pressed the ball, the 4WD indicator light would turn on reliable. However once in the transfer case, it wouldn't illuminate the light. Apparently, it's just a tiny bit too short. If you're contemplating using this switch for a Jeep Wrangler YJ conversion, go with a different brand.

I saw a you tube video showing buying this product was a waste of time. I took a chance, bought it and installed it in my 2004 Jeep Wrangler. My four wheel drive indicator light now works...I'm not mechanically inclined but it was very easy fix. The part was an obvious fit.

Tested the wiring on the Jeep. that worked. tested the old switch. that was broken, so ordered this switch. Tested it before i put it in. It worked as it should when I depressed the ball. When installed in the jeep it didn't work. From what i have read online is that the ball actuator in the dorman switch is a bit smaller than the MOPAR one and works for some people and doesn't work for others. I would save your time and just buy the MOPAR switch. Part number J813 4473

If your 4WD light doesn’t work, this is the first thing to check. It’s a 2 pin connector. If you jump the connections on the wiring, the 4WD light should light up on the panel. If it doesn’t, replace this switch. It’s on the top of the transfer case.Worked perfect for my 1998 Jeep Wrangler with 231 transfer caseEasy to replace for anyone.

Worked perfectly in my 2004 Jeep Wrangler. The factory one didn’t work. Knew it was the sensor when I used a paper clip to see if the dash light would come on. In came on when I shorted the plug with the paper clip. Installed new sensor and now the 4WD light comes on when in 4x4.
