How To Use Your Dr. Arthritis Heat Therapy Mittens

Heated mittens

How To Heat Up

Slip your hands inside the mittens to enjoy soothing, consistent warmth.

To deliver natural moist heat consistently, simply place the removable filler packs in the microwave for 1-2 mins at the lowest setting. Remove once warmed and place carefully back inside the slots provided for by the mittens.

Heated mittens

How Long To Wear

Give your hands ample time to absorb the heat from the heated mittens to maximize its effect on your affected muscles and joint tissues. Minor to moderate pain in joints that are closer to the skin’s surface may only require 10-15 mins of heat therapy, more intense injuries may need longer sessions.

These mittens work, and really that's what matters. They come with a nice instructional booklet that has good tips for those with arthritis and other pain issues. My criticisms: there are four different pads (two each side of mitten) that have to be removed from their pockets, microwaved, rotated around the microwave for even heating, then placed back into the pockets before you can use the mittens. I wish it was a matter of just placing both mittens in the microwave all at once, then removing and using. But these mittens are large, microwave oven is not that large, and it takes a while to do all this pre-use stuff. Also, it's kind of like wearing a big warm pink plush stuffed animal on each hand - ha-ha! But they do work, with warm moist heat that lasts a fair amount of time. I would definitely recommend if you don't mind waiting a little while for the warmth.

The part you microwave is four bags of some kind of beads. The bags are under filled. The time they suggest to microwave them wasn’t long enough. I added an additional minute. Then you insert these bags in the front and back of the mitt. Since the bags are under filled, at no time is my entire hand covered. The heat doesn’t last long, maybe 10 minutes. It would be better if the beads were in the actual mitt and filled with at least twice as many beads. It’s ok. It feels nice on the achy hands for a short time. Honestly it’s not really worth the money.

The gloves are excellent quality and machine washable. The bean bags(heaters) are poor quality and smell after several warmings.Good news is that the regular ice/hot gel bags fit into the pouches...so yes, my arthritic hands approve!

I got my blue mittens today. Didnt even come in a box, but a cheap sealed bag. I found the mittens to be big and floppy. Not a happy customer.

Restituiti.

They do provide heat to your hands, yes. But honestly they smell terrible. The lavender fragrance is chemical-like and annoying. However they do provide a good range of heat for about 15 minutes then cool off rapidly. But yes, they do work.

My disabled husband has major hand problems, including painful contractures, so I wanted to see if heated gloves might help a little. After looking at several available on line, I decided to order these…..which was a good choice. They provide a moist heat that feels good to his hands and helps them relax a little. Each glove has two removable packets that hold the heat. I heat the gloves, with the packets inside, for two minutes in the microwave. I put my hands in the gloves to be sure they are not too hot before I put them on his sensitive hands. They fabric is very soft and cozy feeling. The gloves are not too big or heavy … they don’t weight his hands down and are easy to keep on. They are not a miracle cure, but they provide a little comfort and help his hands relax a little. It helps some to put them on his hands for 20 or 30 minutes before his therapist comes…. It seems to help his hands move a little easier. We will continue using them and hope that long term use might help even more.

The construction of these gloves is really basic. I bought these to warm my hands in the morning. They are huge - about the size of large oven mitts and you pretty much have to just sit with them as they warm your hands or they kind of flop around - the inserts are like little sand bags. They did not stay very warm for long - about 6-8 minutes after 2-3 minutes in the microwave. My hands are a size large glove and I found these to be way too big for me. The material is very soft and the inserts smell like an herbal infusion and there are two small squares for each glove. One square goes in front and the other in the back of little pockets in the glove. The squares warmed up the palms and back of my hands but my fingers are what really need the warmth. Maybe if these were paired with compression gloves, they might work better? I was super easy to return these so worth trying out to see if you like them. If you like to just sit in the morning and need a hand warmer for less than 10 minutes these would do the trick. I needed more like a 15 minutes hand warmer that allowed me to walk around and do a few things while warming the full hand. The gloves come with an info pamphlet on hand issues and therapy that the mfr. sells separately for about $10.00 and that is included for free with your purchase.

I bought these for my mom because her hands get ice cold, and nothing she does can warm them up, until now!! These are amazing!! She loves them so much. It was the perfect gift for her. She used to use the hand warmers that got warm when you took them out of the package, but then you had to throw them away after only one use. So she loves being able to reuse these. And she also loves how she can sleep with them on, without having to worry about any cords or plugs!! She also loves the calming lavender scent, and she says it helps to relax her at bedtime!! If you, or one of your loved ones gets really cold hands, these are the perfect solution!!! You can't go wrong with these!!!

These are very soft and comfortable mitts with two microwaveable inserts per mitt. The soothing warmth is wonderful, and lasts a long time. I'm not a fan of the lavender scene, but it's not overpowering. I didn't know if they would be too huge, but are a nice size. My one comment (as a sewer) is the liner should have been turned inside out, as I find the seam allowance annoying. One seam allowance was way too big (>1") and will need trimming. Overall, I love these for my achy hands and recommend them.

Moist Heat and Soft Fabric. Pads are placed in front and back of each glove after heating the pads in microwave. Used for person with rheumatoid arthritis who has significant pain, swelling and stiffness. Heat pads for 2 minutes on high in microwave and this seems to be sufficient for a good 30 minutes of warmth. Smell is kind of like green tea vs. Lavender to me, but regardless, it is pleasant. Not a cure but certainly for the time worn, helps to temporarily reduce pain and stiffness.
