From the Brand

Rounded clip corners are safer for your canvas

Rounded clip corners

Because a straight cut means a sharp angle that can easily damage fabrics at insertion and removal, BaouRouge clips are rounded and sanded to protect your canvas at all times.

Ribbed for perfect hold

Ribbed for perfect hold

Delicate silk scarf and rough cotton sheets are equally held tightly on a BaouRouge frame. The ribbed design of our adjustable clips assures a perfect hold of all fabrics.

Exclusively made for BaouRouge

Lightweight and sturdy

BaouRouge designs its own frames. Every piece can be re-used into different sets that you can assemble and match at will, such as making a mini stand out of two smaller frames.

I think this would have been OK - a bit flimsy and awkward if you want to use for needlepoint while sitting on couch, but I can't get past the fact that when I went to open the package, it appeared there was orange cat fur (at least I hope it was cat fur) and it smelled like cigarettes. I was taken aback and returned immediately. Really?!!

I purchased this frame for a new project - cross stitching an afghan. The afghan is about 50” x 60” with 20 blocks for stitching. I’ve started with the block in the lower, right hand corner. The excess fabric is at the top and the left side of the frame. So far, it’s performing well but I foresee difficulties as I move the project from the bottom right hand corner and the excess fabric moves to the bottom and the right.Pros:The frame is lightweight and was easy to put together. The clamps hold the afghan well. (The afghan is a loose weave so I use scraps of material between the afghan and the clamp to protect the afghan from any snags.)The frame is stable on my craft table leaving both hands free for stitching. The angle of the frame is enough that my hand fits easily under the top to pull the needle through. (See side picture.)The price was very reasonable.Cons:The frame is awkward when turned over to work from the back side. (The fabric on top blocks light. Plus, the angle is wrong to work from that side. it needs to be tilted back further and held with one hand leaving just the other hand to work without a light or magnifier.) (See pic of backside.)It will be even worse as the afghan is moved down and there is extra fabric at the bottom of the frame that will need to be handled when the frame is turned over. The frame comes apart easily when it’s turned over depending on where it is picked up.Despite the cons, this is the best frame I’ve found for cross stitching a project as big as the afghan. I considered various quilt frames but did not find any that you can reach underneath to pull the needle through or turn over to work on the back. And, the larger cross stitching frames I looked at only attached the project on the top & bottom and weren’t meant for projects of this size (width). For now, this is my only option for this project. Thankfully, so far, it is working.

Excellent product. Basted some broad cloth all around the piece I was working on in order to have it fit in the frame nicely. Works like a charm. Allows you to work much faster. I’m buying one of the smaller sizes too.

I had several “duh” moments while trying to figure this thing out. Like everyone says, there’s no instructions. But how hard can making a rectangle be, right? Well 30 minutes later I have 2 sort of rectangles, and some extra parts and pieces left over that I don’t have a high enough degree to figure out where or how they go! Or how I managed to make 2 rectangles out of this mess. I purchased this to use for my latch hooking, but I’m looking at this beautiful disaster and I’m thinking my latch hook material may be too thick/stiff and too long and wide to be able to use this correctly. I’ll set it aside and probably use this for cross stitch and embroidery projects. Oh well, it was a good idea at one point. It’s not worth the hassle of sending back so unless you have an engineering degree and a lot of patience, I’d pass on this purchase. I wasnt one of the lucky ones that had success with this.

If Amazon let us give ratings with 1/2 stars I would give this product 4.5 because the instructions are ... well, let's just say "less than optimal". Thanks to "Pam" who took the time to upload photos and instructions. And it does take a bit of effort to get the frames together. I guess that is a good thing, because they won't fall apart while you are using them. TIP: Make sure you put them together properly because it isn't easy to take them apart if you make a mistake. Yes, I speak from experience. You want to make two frames and then connect them using the "V" connectors. Each frame uses two "L" shaped connectors at the top and two "T" shaped ones at the bottom. You will have four extra L connectors. The idea is that if you want to use one or both of the frames separately at some point you don't need the extra flange on the "T" connectors. Forget about those extra L's and just use the T's. Trust me, you don't want to be taking the connectors off later and swapping them out for the other style.Once this frame is assembled it is great! Very light weight but sturdy. I recently started to do crewel embroidery again after a break of many decades. I now have arthritis in my fingers -- primarily in my thumbs -- and it is so much easier to stitch with both hands and not have to hold a hoop or frame. I have an Edmunds Universal Craft Stand ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YZ7M0W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) that I use when I am working with 8" Q-snap frames but I don't believe it is heavy enough to hold a 12" x 14" frame. The BaouRouge should take care of that need nicely.I have not used the frame yet as I am waiting for a project to arrive in the mail, but I will update this review after I get a chance to use it. So far, I think this item is a winner.

I'm giving the product 5 stars because the snaps work. I did find that I needed to use a small piece of felt because they were hard to slide off, could this mean they were working to keep my fabric taught... yes. The only problem was there was no directions so I blew up the picture and went from there. Easy peasy after that light bulb moment.
