For microscopy hobbyists: I use the 10µ filter bag and a painter's pole to make a telescoping plankton dip for collecting water samples enriched in microbial life. After 1/2 dozen or so uses, the filter clogs resulting in an unacceptably slow filtration rate. A 30 minute soak in about ~2% household bleach will completely restore the flowrate. Another tip, when routinely using the bag for plankton collection, never let the bag dry before it can be thoroughly rinsed and flushed.This filter bag has improved my plankton collecting as well as increasing the diversity of microbial life I'm able to document. Give it a go!

Off grid, we used these to sieve/filter and process RV black water so that our discharge water is cleaner than NSF standards. These are perfect when used with other micron densities and a macerating pump, and then ozone/UV treat the water for discharge. Ultimately, we filter all water down to 1um before discharge - that's smaller than a red blood cell which is 5 microns. We ozone/UV to treat virus/bacteria that may be present.

Not a lot to say about a filter bag, but it is what it says it is and it seems well made. I used it successfully to filter the outlet of a pond vacuum and it passes the water while keeping even the small dead algae particles.

Every monofilament bag I've bought before was made up of a single layer mesh (similar to a screen). This if felted material. After checking online I've found other descriptions of bags using the work monofilament that showed pictures of felted bags, so perhaps I just didn't understand. In any case it is not what I wanted or expected.
