If you need penetration in your weld, this is a perfectly fine rod. Not for beginners. DC only. Should not be used with AC power.

These ran, but ran kinda spattery and didn’t want to keep the arc stable.

I bought one of those 69 dollar stick welders here on Amazon after watching a video on the cheapest stick welder on YouTube.I never used one before and now I use it all the time.My paticular machine likes the dial set to about 71 amps and I didn't know at first you don't want to touch the stick to the metal. I was new and at first frustrated until I realized the object is to get as close to the metal as you can without touching it and just move the stick where you want welding to happen. The slag left behind sometimes makes it necessary to tap the stick on the metal to create a fresh clean scratch that will let the arc happen. If the stick gets stuck wiggle it to break the tip free of it won't work until clamp it from the machines positive clamp and remove it by gloved hand after a few seconds to let it cool. Anyway you'll figure it out but the cheap machines do work and these sticks work fine with them. There's a ton to learn and I'm glad I stuck with it welding is fascinating! So get gloves and a self darkening mask and a welding coat and have fun! These sticks are great!Oh put the exposed metal end into your positive clamps jaw not the fatter other side! LolWhat can I say I was new and nobody tells you these things.Lol
