The EGR 303371 Bug Shield arrived in good shape and fit my 2012 Ford F150 XLT perfectly. The instructions were good (I also watched a couple videos) and feel very comfortable with the mounting system.

This product is very sturdy and looks great. It installs quickly with 3 clips and 2 screws (no drilling required). The clips take a few minutes to line up and install, but are easy to do. If you have the aftermarket Raptor style grill installed like I do, you will notice some gap in the corners as the Raptor grill bevels the corners, but (unlike other bug deflectors) it goes up over the top of the grille and doesn't cover the three amber LEDs (which my old bug deflector would have). I have had it up to 80mph and it is solid as a rock...no flex and no vibration. Looks great! Great product!

I wanted a bug deflector for my brand new 2013 F150 King Ranch. I have a chrome grill and most deflectors cover the top of the grill which looks funny, IMO. I found three deflectors that went above the grill. One of them is made by Stampede but it just looks weird to me and it also looks too low to the hood to do the job it's supposed to do. Well-designed bug deflectors should do two things: 1) Protect the leading edge of the hood from stones, etc., and... 2) Divert the air current coming off the deflector so it tends to blow bugs and other debris above the windshield. I have read reviews where people want their shields to be almost touching the hood but that negates number 2 (above). Also, some people think having a deflector almost touching the hood eliminates the problems of getting leaves and other debris caught between the back of the deflector and the hood but it actually makes the problem worse. That debris will get in any space and when the space is small, it's just harder to clean out. With a larger space, it's very easy to clean out the debris and, in fact, most debris will simply fall out or be blown out when driving.I have also read concerns about scratching the hood or grill with the clips this deflector uses and I was concerned about that myself until I installed mine. When you install it, you will see that those worries are unfounded. The hood drops abruptly where the grill starts so the clip never even touches the hood at all. It could during installation of the clip but that's what the tape that comes with it prevents. As far as inserting the clips, it's not a problem as some people seem to fear. My truck is only two days old as I write this and the grill is as tight as it will ever be but the clips went in fine. Just use a sort of rocking twist as you insert them and they will go in with no problem. In comments about this deflector on some truck sites, I read where a couple people were so afraid to put the clips in that they simply didn't use them and used automotive double-sided tape along the entire joint instead. But that's impossible as you will see when you get the deflector because the deflector itself isn't touching the hood at that joint. So ignore that idea if you have seen it. Whoever wrote it could not have actually done it with this deflector. In fact, they probably don't even have this deflector.Another option that could be done if you really were (unnecessarily) paranoid about inserting the clips would be to remove the grill before installing the clips. In fact, that is how the Stampede Above the Grill deflector is installed and they have a video showing how to do that. I believe it's at the Stampeded website but, if not, it's on YouTube. Removing the grill appears to be very easy but it's completely unnecessary with this deflector. I just thought I would mention it, though.By the way, there is a YouTube video showing how to install this bug deflector but there is a little conflicting information there that could confuse someone. But the confusion will vanish instantly when you install your deflector. In the video, they mention installing the end screws twice. At first I thought they meant that you temporarily insert the screws for test fitting and marking the attachment points but you only use the screws at the very end of the installation. The deflector will stay firmly on the hood and in position for marking without any screws at all when the hood is open slightly. Then just tap it left and right a little until it is centered perfectly over the grill and make your marks. There's nothing to it. I just made a couple tiny marks with one of those markers that you use on white boards when doing presentations - the kind that just wipe off. This deflector is very good looking. In fact, it's the best looking deflector that I found in my search but that's a matter of personal taste, of course. It's sleek and it goes completely over the hood and the portion of the fender above the headlight. It really looks sharp and it added a very cool look to my new truck. The Stampede deflector is rounded and doesn't follow the crisp contour lines of the hood like this one does. The Stampeded deflector looks sort of like a snake draped along the front of the hood. I see a lot of them and I don't like them at all. Also, you will have to remove your grill to install the Stampede if you get it.I have seen reviews where people complained that this deflector was only held by two screws and it flapped in the wind. They obviously didn't read the directions and didn't use the clips. In fact, one reviewer said that he got a bag of parts with the deflector that must have been put in the box by mistake! Those parts were the clips, screws, washers, screw insert, protection tape and an alcohol wipe. Some people simply can't read even the most simple instructions, I guess. He complained that the deflector flapped around in the wind! Of course it did! He didn't attach it properly. It doesn't flap around at all when installed properly.Total installation time was about 15 minutes and that was working slowly.
