Installed in a garage to be able to access wall cavity where wires run. Frame is sturdy, you have to put some muscle into bending it, very sturdy with a stud or two behind it and the door closed. Lock mechanism holds the door tight, no rattle and I would know with a wall-mounted subwoofer sitting below it. Took caulk and paint well, blends into a flat drywall surface. Drilled small hanging screws into the door of it to hang a plastic light/sign on it, plenty sturdy for this minor weight. One flaw is the door closes with a lot of gap around it on the hinge side, about 1-2 / 16ths. My install location could create a vacuum through the attic framing into the garage when a garage ceiling ventilation system turns on, pulling dust or insulation fibers into the garage. Or if water splatters off a nearby object (garage is set up for car washing), could get into the hinge gap. I trimmed down a small piece of magnetic strip -- the kind robo vacuum makers sell to make navigation boundaries -- with notches for the hinges. It is attached (by magnet) to the back/inside of the door on the hinge side and covers most of the gap without interfering with opening and closing. I'm not knocking any stars because the gap isn't bad visually and won't make a difference to most people, only noting it could be better with a small factory lip or flange doing the same thing my magnet strip does. It's a little sloppy oversight but I still think the product is durable, attractive for what it is, and a good value.

The Elmdor 8 inch by 8 inch DW Series Access Door for Drywall was the perfect solution for my needs (a discreet way to access the "insides" of the jetted tub in my new-to-me home). The home's previous owners had a jury-rigged solution that was plain ugly. This Elmdor 8 x 8 access door fit perfectly in my 8.5 inch by 8.5 inch rough opening. The inside of the door has a flange with pre-drilled holes to allow the unit to be screwed to a stud behind the wall. It is solid, steel construction and has a hidden, offset hinge. A coin or a slot head screwdriver can be used to twist the closing mechanism shut. The unit is coated with white primer, ready to be caulked and painted to match the wall. I'm really happy with this product that met all my needs. If I had one suggestion on how they could deliver even more value, it would be to include a few pieces of pre-drilled hardwood (or metal clips) the same length as the flanges so that you have a way to secure the side of the door on the opposite side of the stud.

Purchased this for an access panel for an EV charging station at home. This panel gave me access to drill into adjacent studs and fish the needed conductors. The mounting holes are inside the lip of the flush mount cover so you will need to use something inside the mount surface. I used some drywall screws to mount 2 1X4 inside the sheet rock and mounted the cover to that.

For my commercial bathroom. I didn't need to get stainless because I knew I was going to paint it, so this one worked great!

The 8" version appears to be excellent quality. The metal is a heavy gauge steel with little to no flex. The door swings easy, and the simple but effective door lock is more than enough to keep the panel securely closed. Install was a snap using the panel itself as a template. I would happily purchase any size steel panel in this family if they are of the same quality.
