We had a thermostat that was replaced under warranty approximately 5 years ago. When that factory American Standard Thermostat was installed, we didn't know it was newly manufactured in 2004! So, when we needed a new thermostat I decided not to bother with a super expensive one and to go with an acceptable substitute. This fits. It's worked for the past 3 1/2 months and it was simple for a handyman to install and to use.

I had the upgraded model of this and sadly that died after 6 years. The AC would just cut off randomly or cut off when it reached the set temp and never turn back on at all. I had to keep pulling the new batteries out of it and reset the thermostat to get the AC to work again. After much banging my head on the wall to fix the issue, I decided needed to replace thermostat. I had their smart model that is 95% just like this one but more $$$$$$$ and you MUST use their app to even set it up.This unit is basic, no APP needed. I was able to keep the base on the wall from their more advance unit, and just put thermostat in it's place. It fit perfectly! Love that it was backwards compatible with their other models. I hated that I only got 6 years out of their smart device, but I love the look and style of these units. It has AUX heat, and was able to get this model for a decent price. So far, 100% love it.

Had to replace an old digital thermostat on a Rheem heat pump. Watched a few youtube videos to see if it was something I could do and it was. One important tip was O/B connection. Most have orange wire, mine had blue (Rheem) so you have to flip a switch on the board to let it know which you are using. Also, in installers setup menu you have to set the compressor lockout as it defaults to no delay. My old thermostat had a built in 5 minute delay, so I had to turn it ON with the Emerson. The other thing to watch for is the W2/E jumper. The instruction book is very helpful, better than most, but check what you have on the old one before disconnecting the wires. With my notes from the videos and my hand written diagrams I was ready. Everything went as planned. The test section in the manual confirmed everything was working correctly. It has been more than a month and so far no problems, heating or cooling.

If you have a heat pump AC, this thermostat will make you very happy. I bought in early June but didn't replace my old one until early August because I was afraid to mess it up, I took photos of the old one (Climatouch) wiresTo make sure I have the right connecting terminals which I have5 wires, red, blue, white, green, light red.Very fortunate I see the same color wires in this new one, took the old one off the wall, place this new one in,Turn the power on, bingo! Sounds easy? But I spent more time to figure out how to screw the thermostat into the wall because my old one has a bigger hole :( anyway, I gave myself a pad 9n my back, all my worries has been overestimated! Effect? This new one is very efficient, it maintains the room temperature whenever the room is getting hotter, the result is a very comfortable atmosphere all day and night! More frequently to kick on but much shorter period of about 5 min vs 20 min of my old one which won't kick on until there was a 2 degrees differential between the setting temp and the room temp, sucks! Go ahead, but this one if you have a heat pump ac, you won't be sorry :) by the way, I just received my electricity bill, there are 2 weeks of using this new 9ne but my bill is the same!

It just works. Programmable and smart thermostats are junk. This is better, the temperature stays where you set it.
