This is a good basic thermostat. My old thermostat was a Honeywell and it finally gave out after 17 years. I decided to replace it with one that did not require reading a hundred page book on how to run it. This is a manual unit and works as described. The display is clear and has large numbers. The display lights up when one adjusts the temperature. I really like the ease with which I can adjust the temperature, one button for up and one button for down. The major defect with this thermostat is its accuracy. When it was installed the tech set the cycle rate at low which is recommended. This caused the temperature to over shoot by 4 degrees. I had the thermostat set at 69 and the room would heat up to 73. I reset the cycle rate to fast and now the over shoot is only 1 degree which is acceptable. The good part is that it does not under shoot which would make the room too cold. My old thermostat would keep the room at exactly the temperature as set. The air conditioning mode is more accurate, the room is about 1 degree warmer than set, but not cooler than set.It is now 1 year and the accuracy for heating is worse. The unit will allow the furnace to run until the room is 3 degrees warmer than set. This is too much and I am constantly going to the unit to set it down a degree or two.I would not buy this unit again and am thinking about replacing it with a Honeywell which will keep the temperature in the room as set.

I just bought a house with a "Smart Thermostat". It expects me to want exactly the same temperatures every day at the same time. It isn't smart enough to know that's not what I want. The Emerson 1F85U-22NP lets me decide what I want rather than forcing me to use what it thinks I want. I love it.

Looked for a non-programable thermostat, found the Emerson with great reviews. Installation was easy and looks great on the wall. In a word...happy!

Didn’t even last 2 years. Liked the Thermostat. Large display, easy to install, use and change batteries. Have 2, sadly, 1 stopped working after 22 months. Display suddenly went blank. Put in new batteries, but still would not work. Can’t decide if should buy it again.

I bought this to replace the 20yo 7 day/programmable thermostat I have been battling with for way too long. This Emerson is super easy to wire up & figure out. Just a few buttons and a larger lit up, easy to read screen. Do an initial setup (read the included manual and google anything that you may not understand in order to select the correct settings for YOUR home's AC/heater). I now just select Heat/AC/Off - set the temperature and walk away. Everyone in my family can easily operate it without any issues. We have now had it for a few summer months and it has worked flawlessly with our AC unit. Will update if I have any future issues. Hope this review helps!
