This speaker was recommended to me by a Guitar Tech when I told him I needed a warmer tone from my solid-state amp. What a difference this speaker has made! I call this speaker my “pot” speaker, but they are great. Worth every penny :-)If you need a warmer jazz tone or warmer blues sound, then I recommend this speaker.

This speaker is a great product to upgrade a current speaker that you're not happy with handles good amount of Watts and has great grit

Per chi suona la chitarra e’ nota la qualità di questo speaker. L’ho usato per sostituire l’ altoparlante di serie di un Fender blues Junior e finalmente ho trovato il suono che cercavo.

As other reviewers have, I purchased this speaker as an upgrade for my inexpensive Fender Champion 40. Installation was very simple and took all of 5 minutes (of note, you will probably to clip the negative terminal on the Cannabis Rex to fit the half width connector on the amp). The sounds is much tighter and better integrated than with the stock speaker. It is lightyears ahead of stock. Obviously, you will need to tweak the amp settings to get exactly what you're after tonally as it definitely has a different balance than stock but no matter what I have done it is better than it was before the switch.Overall, a great, inexpensive, easy upgrade to a Fender Champion 40 and well worth it if you have one!

Background: I've been using my Stage Right 15 Watt amp for over a year, and while I absolutely love that amp, I can't help but notice that the Overdrive/distortion sounded too harsh for my liking. This got accentuated when I started using either the Proco Rat or the Boss Blues Driver, it sounded good, but super harsh! The solution: I kept watching videos where they recommended to use the Cannabis Rex to take the EL84 tubes, and I honestly didn't hear much difference in those videos (I have Monitor Speakers) so before buying a VOX AC15, I decided to give this speaker a shot.OMG! After spending 15 minutes installing the speakers, I felt like heaven! No more harshness and now I absolutely adore the Overdrive/Distortion of my Amp. And it will only get better while my Speakers start to break-in.If you have a stage right and don't love the distortion, get this Speaker!

I've had these in my Garnet Revolution III for about two weeks now, which replaced some non-stock Yamaha woofers that someone had put in before I got it.The rev III is a fairly dark voiced amp and these speakers sound fantastic. The lows are beautiful, the mids are smooth and very articulate, and the highs finally sound like something, the highs I'm getting are clear and very sweet. The two eq knobs went from mud/noise to bass/treble which is always useful. This has always been my favorite amp because I loved it's specific albeit very limited tone, now I finally have options. These speakers got to my door incredibly fast, I ordered them on a sunday night and they were at my door wednesday before noon. I got a good laugh when I opened the box and noticed the hemp cones were green also. So thanks for that.

This speaker has vastly improved the sound of my Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue. As many have written the BDRI stock speaker is not very good - even though it is also a Eminence speaker, made to Fender specs. The Cannabis Rex really does tighten up the bottom and tame the highs. I purchased the amp primarily for use with my full sized L-5 style jazz guitar, but I found that with the stock speaker I had to dial back the treble and bass to next to nothing, and use a 5 band Parametric EQ and Compressor to get a musical sound out of the amp. Having done my research I fully expected to replace the stock speaker and I got the amp at such a good price that it was worth it to me. The C-Rex does not disappoint and at a great price. The stock speaker has a more traditional tweed sound, but was so piercing and flabby at the bottom as to be very limited without the use of the compressor and EQ noted above, whereas my goal is to plug and play - guitar, cable, amp.The Cannabis Rex did exactly what I needed - enabled me to get rid of the off-board EQ and compressor and allowed me to actually use the EQ on the amp. Now I can get a vintage tweed tone by scooping the mid a little or a darker blackface tone using the EQ on the amp alone. Also the speaker give me significantly more clean headroom on the amp. Though they say the C-Rex is louder than the stock speaker I found that I was able to turn up higher because the tighter lows reduced feedback and the tamed highs made for a much smoother sound.I also use a mid 70s Telecaster with a Fender noiseless lipstick pickup in the neck position and a very hot lead pickup (I think it is a Seymour Duncan, but I changed it so long ago I don't recall) and the C-Rex sounded very musical with that as well. Telecasters can be painfully trebley, but not so with the C-Rex.Bottom line is if you want tight lows, smooth highs, and the ability to actually use the full range of EQ settings of the amp then this is a great choice.

this speaker is better than the original speaker the one that comes with the amp (made by the same company eminence) the bass is louder and more pronounced and the highs are not ear piercing, the tone is smoother and clearer. and the price us just right, there are some better speakers out there but it cost more, I am satisfied with this speaker. I will recommend it.

Bought the CR because the Hot Rod Deluxe stock speaker drove me crazy...(way too much ice pick highs and flubby bass)I did quite a bit of research before deciding on the CR... everybody claimed it was a really dark speaker and Eminence stated on their site it was good for Jazz, Country, and Blues.....I wasn't crazy about the sound clips, but read so many reviews about people using it for classic to hard rock, which is what I play mostly.....so after months of reading and searching the web about this speaker, I purchase one at a great deal on Amazon....It arrived on time and I loaded it in the HRDx, Wasn't really a Wow factor but it really sounded good, great upgrade and no more ice pick mid/highs or flubby bass, it's not as dark as most say it is and holds bass really well, It will need many more hrs on it before broken in. The hemp cone takes more time to loosen up (about 30+ hrs at average playing).Bottom line... I'm happy with the speaker and it just sounds better and better the more it's played..BUT!! I still don't have a love for the Hot Rod Deluxe sound like I thought I would, Great amp but not what I feel comfortable with.... kinda a love hate thing going on with it.....Solved that problem too, took the CR out and put the stock back in.... Got a Mesa Mark V and put the HRD up for trade... I'm keeping the CR speaker and will use it later....Great Speaker, and will make a great upgrade for most amps out there if you don't want a overly bright sound....The Eminence Swamp Thang would be another option to consider, both are efficient and have the same db ratings (I think)Oh yea, it is an efficient speaker and may if not will make your amp sound louderGood luck...

This is a great speaker. The Cannabis Rex is a warm clean speaker, with nice bright highs, plus lots of fullness and low end.I build amps and effects pedals. I built a late-1950s style tube amp with tremolo, and had an Eminence Fender OEM speaker in it, and the amp had a bright clean, chimey sound to it, very open and vintage sounding. The C-Rex is not very vintage sounding; it's loud and full. It was like getting a whole new amp. Instead and bright and chimey, the amp now sounds noticeably louder and has a much fuller tone. Lots mor mids, lower mids, and bottom end while still having nice crisp highs. It certainly thickened up the tone and made the amp louder. I play a Fender Telecaster and I still have that Tele twang, and after I lowered the pickups on the bass side, I have a great, rich tone all across the spectrum. The low notes are rich, and the high notes are clear, and the mids are right there in the middle where they belong. If you want a loud speaker, and if you want a speaker that gives a loud, full, thick tone with crisp highs, this is it.
