Came with absolutely no guidance on what to do. Spent 30 minutes looking for videos of other kits.Very overpriced. You can literally just buy wood chips and a torch.The torch itself is hard to use and feels extremely junky. I felt embarrassed to gift this.

This is a complete kit that can smoke any drink. It took a short time trying different amounts of wood to get the hang of it and after a couple loads of wood chips it was more than enough smoke for my whiskey.I was at a bar that used mason jars with lids to seal the smoke in so you could shake your drink to get even more infusion happening. That will be my next purchase. For now though the included lid and smoking tray works well with a couple of firings to get a good amount of smoke on top of a drink.This is so cool to be able to do this at home. It just needed some butane which I had on hand already.

Though not an aficionado, I do enjoy whiskey every now and then. I saw this and felt it could add too the experience and I believe it does just that. It comes with 4 different chips to offer alternative aromas & tastes.I like the various aromas this adds and it looks good while doing so. The butane torch lights EASY and doesn't even need to sit long after filling to light. (Hint: If your torch isn't working, let it rest a few minutes after filling. Not sure why, but this seems to give the gas time to find it's "home".)The box is a nice touch too, but feels a bit unfinished (rough, unsanded) and smells of freshly cut wood in a sawmill. The hinges are well designed and support the lid when opened, a very nice bit of thought there!

This is a very nice whiskey smoker set. It comes with 4 different flavors, the smoker top, and a lighter all in a very pretty box. Yes, the lighter does not come with butane but this is because when shipping butane, it can only be shipped by ground mail. It can not be by air. It would take forever for these items to be delivered to you. There are no instructions that come with it but they do have some listed on this page. They only thing they do not tell you is how long to smoke it for. We did it for about 3 minutes or so and it gave it a decent flavor. It will be something we experiment with as we learn. Also, a little bit goes a long way! Do not feel like you need to fill up the whole bowl. This is a really neat set and our first one we ever used. We think it is really cool and definitely a fancy cocktail additive to impress your guests!

I don't drink spirits, but I do have family members and friends who do. This product helped me take serving a drink at my home to a new level. Imagine serving a scotch with a smoky haze over it..in the glass. With this product, you can!This item provides everything you need to serve a special smoky drink, except for the rock glass and and the spirits (and ice, if you use it.)There is the smoker lid that has a mini-smoker to light up a couple of wood chips. A torch to get the wood chips fired up, a spoon to put the chips into the mini-smoker, a brush to clean it out and.....FOUR types of wood chips for selecting just the right smoke for your drink. Apple wood. Pecan wood. Cherry wood. Oak wood. And all packaged in a small hinged wooden organizer box. The only thing missing is the butane for the torch (because it is shipped empty for safety).Everything is of nice quality and quantity, especially for the price point. It's fun to make your "smok'in drink".Pour your drink of choice. Put the smoking chamber on the top of the glass. Pick your wood. Put a couple of chips in the smoking chamber and fire it up with the torch. Then once it's smoking, but the lid on the chamber and let the smoke fill the glass. Presto! An amazing smok'in drink that will be sure to impress your spirits drinkers.Highly recommended. Good for your own bar...and great as a gift for your friends.

The overall very pleasant presentation and apparent quality of the components (other than the plasticky torch) was somewhat dampened by the fact that the torch didn't work out of the box. Playing with the valve and trying it out few times (still no luck!) led me to try charging it up with some butane I happened to have; once I did this, the torch worked fine, and doesn't need to be turned up all that much to do the job. I thought maybe the valve was faulty (letting out the butane during shipping) but looking at the other reviews it sounds like the torch is just shipped empty. There may be some reason it had to be sent empty but then INCLUDE A NOTE SAYING THIS IS EXPECTED! Really kills the experience to think it's broken, and then have to go buy butane, wondering if that'll work.That annoyance aside, the different types of included wood, and the nicely finished smoking lid brings decent value overall. The torch is easy to use once it has butane in it, but feels a little cheap; only the nozzle is metal - the rest is plastic. I guess as long as it holds up, it's OK - just feels like a toy vs. a nice piece of hardware.It all works well enough and I really do love the wooden box it comes in. The need to go buy butane and the lack of any kind of indication as such in the box (remember, this is something you might gift to someone!) keeps this product short of a 5-star rating.
