I bought this to replace a the bulb in my Benq HT2050 projector. Benq wants $250, 3rd party companies want about $150-200. Part of the reason for the price is that the entire bulb housing is included and makes for a quick swap. For me, replacing the bulb itself for about $90 was worth the extra time it took to remove it from the housing. This is a simple process do to - just watch a couple youtube videos before hand and save yourself $150. This replacement bulb has performed identically to the one that came with my projector including color, brightness and contrast. The bulb itself looks identical and may be from the same OEM manufacturer. I installed this bulb back in October of 2024 so it has been about 5 months. The kids use the projector every day for several hours a day. So far, so good!

This appears to be an Osram bulb, but it can’t officially be called one since the “Osram” branding has been ground off. That doesn’t mean it’s inferior in any way. A similar example can be found with Toyota’s OEM water pumps. Toyota contracts Aisin to manufacture them, and the original pumps have “Toyota” cast into the metal. However, Aisin also sells the same high-quality pumps under its own name at a lower price, with “Toyota” ground off. Likewise, this is an Osram-manufactured bulb—just without the Osram name.

I am writing this review a long time after the fact because I could not recall where I had bought the lamp, AliExpress or Amazon. After finding the order here I feel I HAVE to leave this review. This lamp worked at first, but less than 3 months in and I am getting the same error I got when my Original bulb died...a blinking red light.Do not buy from this seller

I bought this bulb for my Benq HT2050. My original bulb was good for about 3500 hours equally split between smart eco and regular brightness. The cheapest reputable whole module with the bulb and housing was 140ish so I decided to save 60 bucks and re-use the old housing. It was a great decision because installation wasn't too hard at all. Took about 20 minutes . I took pics of where and how everything fit together and I needed them because I forgot the exact placement So take your time ,take pics and its pretty easy . The lamp itself is awesome! The picture is nice and bright ,just like it was a brand new projector. I feel like I'm looking at a new projector and that's all you can ask, really. For 80 bucks as opposed to 140 or even 250 ,(the price for a new lamp and housing on Benq site) it was a good decision for me.

UPDATE: After 1 year, working great , flawless, still bright... recommend this... please ignore my review after 5 months, that was not the bulb....UPDATE: After 5 month, performance is great.... small condition developed so thought to share with you. see video, photo attached , on very light screen a moving flare can be seen, like while browsing net, notepad. however no problem in watching movies yet.INTIAL REVIEW: Perfect for HT2050A. But wait... Thou 5 stars i have two comments you should know. The bulb is new and i am writing review within one month of use, so cant say how long it will last. Secondly and most important that this bulb is brighter than original one, what this means is I felt the cinema quality is not as crisp as before. Looks like original Benq bulb 250 USD would retain that quality and hence the ridiculous cost. The cost difference doesnt make sense considering the difference in quality is marginal only.Am enjoying it, specially 3D, where brightness is the most important aspect, now i see more 3D than 2D. Why 3D fans are so less and the technology is going down in earth :-(So if you watch more TV shows than movies, you will be more than happy, if you watch 3D movies you will be fascinated, if you watch mostly 2D movies, you may or may not make out little quality difference.Enjoy and go for it.

My Light bulb still worked but it dimmed so much, darks were to dark, so it was time. Install was somewhat easy. No tutorials anywhere but only 4 screws to remove. I struggled with light bulb till I figured it sat on housing face down, I removed it differently, confusion on my part. Turned on projector bright again colors and darks. However, on the right side of screen I noticed it was somewhat less bright. I'm not sure if it has to do with the light bulb or dust that got in the inside of the lens, there was quite a bit of dust on projector inside and out. I will open it up again air blow it out and hopefully clear any dust. Note that spot wasnt there before I removed light bulb twice re adjusted light spot still there hoping its dust on the inside lens. Update turns out housing no longer works cleaned before reinstall removed coating accidentally. Bought bulb with housing less hassle for a couple of bucks more.

When I first installed this lamp it was way too dim. I am correcting my one-star review.Turns out I installed it incorrectly. You need to make sure you install the lamp in the heavier cast-metal casing first. Then place the thinner metal cage over the lamp. My first incorrect attempt had me putting the lamp in the thin metal casing and then attaching it to the cast-metal base. This caused a major gap that was enough to only allow about half the light power to hit the lens. Upon close inspection, this lamp is nearly identical to the original lamp in my projector.I am only giving two of the five stars because the EXACT SAME LAMP is available for $12 less here: https://amzn.to/2RAvqw8UPDATE: get the lamp PLUS the whole housing for WAY LESS here: https://amzn.to/3p5xG1tI know because I ordered that other lamp, thinking this one was faulty. I'll be returning this one and grabbing another as a backup, from the seller that has it for less.
