This type of scraper is desined for removing frost. Not so great on thicker ice. The brass blade is more delicate than the plastic variants available. Once they're bent they useless. Anyway mine arived in a standard plastic shipping envelope and nothing else. So the corner of the blade was bent. I did manage to straighten it so all is well. Not knocking the product, just knocking the way it was packaged.

This is my most favorite tool for scraping wallpaper! Yup, you heard it correctly, wallpaper. I’ve had one for years that I’ve only used for wallpaper removal! Couldn’t find my other one (have since found it right where it belongs 🫤) so I ordered this one. It arrived quickly and exactly like my old one, feels good in my hand and doesn’t make my hand unduly tired or sore. Excellent quality, fair price.

I have had my fair share of snow and ice since I've purchased this scraper 5+ years ago and I've gone through several plastic snow brushes with the cheap ice scraper at the end. Most days I don't need this particular ice scraper, because i find a plastic snow brush clears the snow off just fine. However, when there's a layer of ice, this is your tool hands-down.The only thing I could add is that I modded it by using some leftover molding clay to make a big fat old honking hand-grip for it, as the handle is not that comfortable. I'm not a physicist, but I think making the blade wider may disperse the force too much to make it as effective on ice. The blade makes scraping ice oddly satisfying because it's SO great. But if they could make the blade wide and have it still work as well, I'd pay 3x as much for it. Still, it's about the same or a little bit wider than most of the plastic ice scrapers I've purchased over the years, so not sure if this is something really worth dinging the product for.On another note, it used to live in my driver's side door and it's so slim profile (prior to this year's handle modification) it stays in my car year-round. One day it slid it up when I pulled a water bottle cup out of the same door storage and being in a rush I didn't notice it. I accidentally cut my stocking-ed leg as I was getting out of the car. While women's nylon stockings are not much protection, it is still SHARP, so you may want to store it more out of the way that I did initially. Now it lives in my glove compartment and has a very comfortable but bulky handle.TLDR - works excellently because it's VERY sharp - store carefully, and handle is not super-comfortable if you have a lot to scrape.

Update: 02132017: I specifically made a point of testing it today, comparing this with another good scraper and my 40 year old scraper. This is very effective. But I used the other scrapper (plastic) to pre-cut grooves into the ice on the windows before using this scrapper because I was afraid to bend the blade on this one.On a pre-cut grooves window, this scraper did very well. My 40 year old scraper showed its age, since the edge is no longer sharp and it has a broker surface in places, but for these deficiencies, it applies a better force for scraping and feels more solid.I upgrade this to 5 stars from 4 stars.>>>Have not used yet, waiting for ocassion. Noticed that edge on one side is scratchy (on top surface), so I must be careful, or file it down to round off the edge without distorting the metal. Took off one star for this. Will update when I have used it and with some experience. It is small, but could work well. Just hope it does not cause scratches as some have said.I also purchased a plastic one, just in case. I still have my plastic one from 40 years ago--I washed it up and it is still serviceable.

A BRASS ICE SCRAPER -- absolutely the most serious ice scraping idea to come along in a while. I have purchased other brass ice scrapers and have been very pleased except for the way the brass was mounted and after a few years it would break the plastic holding it.It works so well because metal is tougher that ice and brass is softer than glass ! ! thus the safety factor. You can use the corner to cut thru thick ice and then scrape it off and it just peels the frost off like nothing was there. EXCELLENT BUY !!!!!!!DUE TO THE WAY THE BRASS IS HELD IN PLACE i EXPECT TO USE IT FOR MANY YEARS . . . WITHOUT HAVING TO REPLACE IT !

In Minnesota you need a great ice scraper. Frost is one thing but freezing rain coats the car in icy armor and it can be a real pain in the keester to remove. Plastic scrapers are completely inadequate for ice even if you use the side with the sawtooth that breaks up the ice first. In fact, most scrapers suck. It's hard to believe that after a hundred years of cars there wouldn't be better ice scrapers, but we still have crappy plastic ones that easily get nicks in their blades leaving little ice streaks on every stroke. They also tend to slide up and over thicker ice buildup. The Fantastic Ice Scraper is definitely better, and for two bucks it's easy on the wallet. It's the brass blade that does it -doesn't scratch glass and goes through rather thick ice buildup better than any other scraper I've ever had. Brass also bends a little (also why I found credit cards not bad for frost scraping)and this helps it conform to slight curvatures in the windshield. The handle could be longer and textured better for a solid grip but this tyhing is way out above all, so I gave it five stars.BTW, They also are handy for other scraping duties.I bought ten of 'em, keep one in my toolbox and gave a few away to family and friends.
