About this item

  • Specially designed bullet ends provide a perfect fit in Fender style tremolo systems.
  • Traditional ball-end string design leaves a certain ammount of "slack" which can cause string slippage. Fender Bullet strings eliminate this issue providing better tuning stability.
  • The nature of the precision-machined bullet-end design means that strings are returned to the exact same position every time the tremolo is used. This greatly improves tuning stability even after heavy tremolo use.
  • The Bullet string-end design is especially well suited for Stratocaster guitars because the bullet ends fit precisely into the tremolo block, closely fitting the circumference of the string channel, and they slipped out easily when changing strings.
  • With a larger mass and tighter fit in the tremolo cavity, Fender Super Bullet strings provide superior sound transferance.

Combine the high output and dynamic sound of steel with the smooth feel of nickel. Our signature Super Bullets are perfect strings for rock and other kinds of music requiring cutting guitar. Best of all, the patented bullet end creates a sonic coupling between the string and the bridge block, offering rock-solid tuning stability and increased sustain. Fender introduced its bullet-end electric guitar strings circa 1974 under the name “Super Bullets.” The new string-end design was especially well suited to Stratocaster guitars because the bullet ends fit far more precisely into the tremolo block, closely fitting the circumference of the string channel, and they slipped out easily when changing strings. They were available in pure nickel and nickel-plated steel versions for electric guitar and bronze-wound for acoustic guitars. Although Super Bullets electric strings could be used on many different guitars, they were especially popular with Stratocaster players. Super Bullets existed largely unchanged until the early 1990s, when Fender switched from zinc-plated steel to brass for the bullet ends. Brass had the additional advantage of imparting improved sustain. By the mid-1990s, Fender was offering pure-nickel bullet-end strings dubbed “Bullets,” nickel-plated steel bullet-end strings dubbed “Super Bullets, and bullet-end acoustic strings in bronze and phosphor bronze versions. Bullet-end stainless steel strings appeared in the late 1990s. Today, Fender continues to offer its classic bullet-end electric guitar strings in the strong, slender forms of its pure-nickel 3150 Original Bullets, which are ideal for vintage-style tone, and nickel-plated steel 3250 Super Bullets, which offer characteristic tonal power and durability.

It was designed unnecessarily complicated to find the right string. For an unknown reason there is no labeling or color coding per single string, instead they came up with the idea to put every 2 strings into 1 envelope. Problem is; they decided to put string numbers 1&4, 2&5, 3&6 into same envelopes. So every time you open an envelope there is one thin and one thick string. So when you're changing them one by one, it's easily becaming a confusion and you find yourself trying to identify the right string by looking it with the naked eye. There's literally no other way. WHYYYY???

I have been playing guitar since 1965 and this is the first time I received something from Fender. Wake up Quality Control..or..This is a new type guitar set up, I am not aware of?Package came with two sets of" 2nd String and 5th String" packets, missing 1st and 6th string packet..see picture..Amazon is sending me a replacement set, String pricing is just too high to let go..Would be 5 Stars for the Sting Quality, but 3 Stars for Packaging Quality Control..

I cannot believe how fantastic these strings are, I put these on a 2018 Squier Telecaster Standard & a 2019 Fender Stratocaster Player. I never really liked the way the Tele played, I had D'Addario Nickel Wound 10-46 on it. I put these strings on and it's like a new guitar. The sustain is crazy long, apparently the purpose of the bullet is to have more contact to the bridge block. When I read that I thought sounds like some marketing mumbo jumbo, boy was I wrong, it's true. That being said make sure you are buying these for a string through body. I mean no disrespect to D'Addario I will continue to use them on my Gretsch and Epiphones, however I might change to 9's. I should also mention that I have Fender "Locking Tuners" which helps with sustain also.

Great low tension strings that play and sound great. Very easy to bend. It's the only sting that I will use on my Fender American Strat.I also have to give a big thumbs up to Fender customer service. I had an issue with a bent string. The service rep was awesome, and once he received my proof of damage, he replaced it immediately. Fender cares about it's customers, so spread the word and buy this string. There's no down side.

Update: Initially I rated these fewer stars, partially because of the sound, but mostly because of the damaged strings. I contacted Fender customer service. I expected the usual hassle. My expectations were not met. Fender was great to work with. Their customer service was superlative. They not only replaced the bad product, they gave me extra replacements of more than the damaged strings. This I'm not used to. I'm used to lots of hemming and hawing and excuse making & if you're lucky getting a replacement part or item. Fender didn't do that. They provided replacements, plus extras, quickly without hassle. I'd like to chalk it up to my extraordinary charm, but I think it was mostly Fender's dedication to their customers.I also brought up the issue with the packing I mention below. I still don't like the packaging, but maybe someone at Fender will listen. I sure hope so, because in today's declining guitar market it would be a loss of a national treasure like the iconic Fender. Britain makes the amps, the U.S. makes the guitars. The bullet ends are nice. Go great with my Fender Stratocaster with the factory whammy. HOWEVER.1) Some of the would strings were damaged. Flattened at certain random spots. I've never seen that and I've been buying would strings for decades. I'm not sure how manufacturing could mess that up, unless the machine that makes the string just mangles some randomly all on its own.2) Get dirty quickly. I'm not sure what different manufacturers do, by D'Addario's stay clean much longer.3) WAY to BRIGHT. HARSH. Good for super distorted over-pre-amped metal guitar music. Not so great for not over-pre-amped metal guitar music.4) The color coding is strange. 2 strings are wound together and there's no color code on the packaging. You just gotta know 1 & 4, 2 & 5, 3 & 6. Them are the pairs. If your 1 & 2 are close, and you can't figure out the difference in diameter, I guess the difference just doesn't matter much, does it?Like the bullets. Like the name brand. Don't like the strings so much.P.S. Working with Fender to figure out what's up with the crushed strings. Stay tuned. (pun intended)

After 20 plus years of playing I've tried every brand and every gimmick of guitar string out there. The coated Nanowebs & Clear Tones, the different alloy formulas like the cobalts and platinums and the mix & match heavy top/light bottoms. To me nickel wound or straight nickel strings are the best for electrics, but for Strats in particular the Fender Bullets are my favorites. The marketing device of the bullet ends making the strings sustain more with the trem block is true. I can hear the difference on my main Strat from using like Ernie Balls & D'addario's to the Bullets. Their not necessarily brighter, just more defined with better sustain. If you have a Gibson Les Paul or an ES style electric then the bullet ends may not make the big difference they would in a Strat or strung through body Telecaster. If you do have a Fender Strat or Tele, try them at least once to see if the difference suits your style & sound.

I own Fender Malmsteen strat, so I needed these to match the original set were on my guitar,I've never played better than this, Sound is excellent, but I found out there's corrosion very early afterinstalling it (maybe after like 3-4 days only).Pros:- Good price- Very high quality- Sound is very niceCons:- I had to remove my plastic cover(strat guitar) to fit the bullet through the hole.A must have for everyone!

These are great strings. I thought the bullet end was BS hype, but I really think it makes the string stronger and the sound clearer. And even if that is my rusty ears lying to me, I can say with conviction that they definitely fit better with my G&L Legacy guitars - regular strings had the little extra wind from the ball end coming right up to the saddle in some cases - these solve that problem.
