NOTE: You will need a special tool in order to install this in your Telecaster. Not worth the effort/cost of he specialized tool.If you have the tool already..Go for it! It’s a good part, just a poor design.

If you’re going for a vintage appearance, this ferrule is the ticket. Fits well, and has proper plating.Otherwise go with an Electrosocket style jack.

Not the easiest to install unless you have a special tool.

This little setup is certainly a traditional solution to fixing a jack socket into your tele - but it's by no means the best. It's intricate, needs a separate tool to install and will, most likely, work itself loose before too long.Do yourself a favour - unless you're refurbing a vintage guitar, buy one of those 'electrosocket' style fittings. It's dead easy to fit with a drill and a screwdriver, and is less likely to move that this Fender one.

Arrived as expected. There are better solution for a Telecaster jack cup but this is what Fender uses and what the owner wanted.

My 1963 Telecaster Relic from the Fender Custom Shop had a loose jack that was falling out of the hole. It turns out the jack plate was digging into the wood and was no longer holding it's place. StewMac sells a couple of tools that are indispensible for fixing this common problem on teles new and old alike.First you need to remove the 1/4 jack itself. StewMac sells an ingenious tool called Jack the Gripper. It has a knurled offset tip that grips the jack side-wall when you turn it. you can slip a 3/8 socket (1/2" in size) thru the tool and loosen(or tighten) the nut on the jack without potentially turning the jack itself and damaging wires. Worked like a charm!Second you need to remove the old jack plate using another tool from StewMac that safely bends the jackplate to the point you can pull it out of the cavity.Third you flip the tool around and load your new jack plate (from this kit on amazon) which has a slight bend to it to fit into the hole. When you start to crank down the tool, instead of bending the plate, you straighten the plate out which plants itself into the wall of the guitar. It is improtant to ensure the wall of the tele jack is in good condition. Dan Erlewine suggests a mixture of epoxy (slow setting) and sawdust to rebuild the wall. Don't use too much and make sure you wait overnight for it to cure.Once the jack plate is installed, the reassembly is the same as disasembly.5 Stars! StewMac's tools work great with this kit!

Ok, so after many attempts to upgrade to a socket that literally screws in with 2 screws I gave up, and decided to return my Telecaster to vintage spec by buying this old style Fender jack plate. This is much better than the standard that seems to come with most Mexican and Eastern made Fenders, it's USA made, and really holds well. I can seriously recommend this as a replacement jack, but until there is a screw in type that fits, I think I'll stick with this.
