Absolutely brilliant piece of glass. Performs beautifully with my Fuji XT-2 and a wide angle lens. Accidentally touched the front with my not so clean finger and I didn't see a trace of dirt or finger print. You might have a different experience, but I was pretty happy about the coating. Great color rendition, great everything about this filter. Highly recommended.

I own multiple ND filters, for many filter sizes and of varying prices. I was a bit hesitant to purchase a filter from Formatt Hitech at first, since it's not as well known as Hoya, Marumi, B+W, Tiffen, Zeiss, Nikkor, etc. Also, the 'Firecrest'' name sounds Chinese, and I'm ashamed to admit that that fact worried me :/Anyway, I bought the filter, helped by some online reviews, and decided to test it against my Tiffen ND 0.9 and B+W F-Pro ND 0.6. There was no contest - the Firecrest eats them both for lunch. Mind you, the strengths of each filter are different, and judging from my camera's meter, all perform as expected in terms of light absorption. The difference lies in color rendering, and for video (what I use them for) this is *extremely critical*.Let me explain - for photos, I use raw, and that lets me fix most color casts quite easily. But the same can't be said of video footage, and unless one shoots log and corrects later (which I don't), a color cast can render the results useless. In that sense, my Tiffen filter STINKS (I don't claim this for all of their stuff, just the particular ND 0.9 that I bought) - it gives everything a cool, blue cast. Cool footage is pretty much worthless for general use, making people look like zombies, and giving any scene a 'wintry' feel. My B+W gives an awfully 'golden' shade to video. It's wonderful for sunsets, but otherwise a bother, giving a sort of 80's white balance that doesn't work for everything. It's still miles better than the Tiffen, and I've used it for plenty of work assignments.Enter the Firecrest filter. While not exactly color-neutral, it renders things in a very pleasing manner, being just a smidgen warmer than the usual cast of whatever camera/lens combination I'm using. It's great to neutralize the blue cast of older Sigma lenses, for instance, and delivers outstanding results in overcast days, or during the early morning/late afternoon. The filter itself is also superb, being thinner than usual, multicoated, made of brass, light, and generally of excellent quality.I honestly can't recommend it enough. I was proven completely and utterly wrong with my initial misgivings.

Cannot imagine what anybody would want with this filter before 2024, but it worked great for the last total eclipse. Hope I can find it in 7 years when the next total crosses my path.

Excellent build quality and clarity. Big bang for your bucks here. Square filters don't really work with my Fujifilm system since the big bright white lettering on the front of the lenses sometimes cast a reflection. Iv'e been sampling with different manufacturers to find best quality/price combo, and these Firecrest filters fit that ratio nicely.

Controls harsh Aussie Summer light and slows exposure really well. Haven't noticed any impact on image quality although don't tend to enlarge prints further than A4.

First one fell apart the first time I used it. Amazon returned it no problem. Second one appears to have a light leak from the 4 o'clock position. Sent images to manufacturer and they denied it but said that if I send it to them in England (at my own cost) they would "see what they could do".
