I bought 6 and installed one. After installation, to check the deisgn, I ran a stream of water from a garden hose in the gutter to mimic a rain storm. Not only did the coiled hose not roll out but the water in the down spout had such a hydraulic head that the water started to flow out of the clamp at the top of the boot where the design has a zip tie that wraps the top of the boot. The coil is so taught, it's tough to unroll by hand let alone the hydraulic pressure that's supposed to open the coil. I'm returning all 6 I bought. I wish I had taken a picture of the water flowing out the top of the boot.

Have had some pretty good rains here in Texas. Does the job for me. All depends on how much rain you get. I bought something similar to this 25 years ago and it was pretty cool. This is the same. I’d recommend

I bought several of these to go all the way around my home. The plastic zip ties that come with each of the extenders are not heavy duty enough to keep the product affixed to the gutter during a hard rain. I ended up buying wider zip ties to make it work. They work perfectly now.

It's a good extender for the heavy rain we have in Florida, however, this one is too short. Also, it is difficult for it to stay attached to the downspout. I have used 2 zip-ties, duct tape it to the downspout, and it still comes off after heavy rain. The holes in the extender are a bit too small, so I have to enlarge it myself, especially when the leaves comes down from the gutter, it may clog up the holes. Other than these flaws, it's a great gadget to have so that rain water can be steered away from the foundation and it does roll back in after the rain subsides. I cannot use a permanent extender as the landscapers need to mow the lawn and it will definitely be in their way. So this is the best alternative I can find so far. One last thing, the water spewing out from the holes during heavy rain creates a water fountain effect, pretty to look at.

Read the negative reviews and be prepared to purchase wider ties and a longer run and make numerous adjustments trying to get this to work. Be prepared for this not to work at all and back up the downspout if there is a steady 2 hour rain event. Be prepared to unroll it and pin it down and open the end when it backs up the downspouts. Waste of time and money and due to the back up caused other problems. I bought two with such hope but both were poor performers and did not do what they are advertised to do. Beware.

I recently purchased the Frost King Automatic Plastic Drain Away Downspout Extender and was extremely disappointed with its performance. The product claims to automatically extend and retract as needed to divert rainwater away from the foundation of my home, but in reality, it failed to do so consistently.First of all, the installation process was difficult and time-consuming. The instructions were confusing, and it required more effort than I anticipated to get it attached to my downspout properly. But even worse than that, the product did not function as advertised. The extender did not extend and retract automatically, even during heavy rainfalls, leaving water pooling near my home's foundation.Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the Downspout Extender. It was difficult to install, did not function as advertised, and did not hold up well over time. I would not recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable solution.

Works as discribed. However, I connected it directly off of the downspout, no elbow at the bottom. I suspect the water would squirt out around an elbow, unless it was sealed. It takes a little head pressure to make it work.

I like this particular drain because once it extends and releases the water that came down the spout, it rolls back up to the end of the spout so it is not hanging out in the way for mowing. It slides on with some effort to fit tightly onto the spout and is also zip tied so it won't slide off. These must be popular because I was looking for one in a few local stores and they were sold out of these. I wasn't interested in any of the other type of extensions I saw so I was happy to be able to get this through Amazon.
