The alarm works fine, but I’ve noticed that the temperature doesn’t match what other sensors do. In this picture, I’ve just checked the same wall with a temp gun and it shows 11* cooler than this product. I’m not sure if the heat is coming from the outlet or what, but it’s something to note that the thermometer might not be accurate.

This is a fairly decent gas detector, but not great for a couple of reasons. First of all, it does work and it does detect has and is able to emit an alarm to notify you of that. That alone is a precious feature, and laos since it has carbon monoxide detection, it's a great safety feature. But the build quality does feel pretty low, and it overall doesn't seem very well made. I don't feel comfortable I can depend on for a long service, and I don't know if I can trust it will work when it really needs to. Also, the alarm isn't very loud. You can certainly hear it in the same room, but if you're in a different room or floor in a house it might be difficult or impossible to hear. Other than that, It's a decent product.

This thing is pretty cool. One plug in and it checks for dangers in the the house. Grandpa wears a robe into the kitchen and even if he he doesn’t cook he brushes the stove knobs. Next thing I know I wake up smelling gas. This unit solves this issue. It is very easy to install. Just plug it in.In my experience the next time a burner didn’t light but was spewing gas. The alarm went off.It would be better if the alarm were a bit louder. I would say it is a good value for for the money, especially if it keeps you alive. It is small but is totally functional.

I am truly impressed by this Gas and CO Detector. at first glance, it is probably the nicest looking detector I've seen. Thin, sleep and modern. It plugs into any electric outlet, and does not block the second plug, so you can still run your vacuum! When you first plug this detector in, it goes through a two minute warm-up/setup procedure. At the end of the procedure, a loud alarm briefly sounds, and you're good to go. Truly plug and play. I love the fact that in addition to your Gas and CO level, this detector displays the room temperature and humidity level. The display is crisp and clear. I've installed one of these detectors on each floor of my home, and they provide great peace of mind, knowing that we will be promptly notified should a gas or CO leak develop. I believe everyone should have one on each floor. I am truly impressed with this product. Highly recommend!

When we recently had a new gas hot air furnace installed, the local building code mandated smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. I bought this detector and installed it in our basement near the new furnace. Upstairs, on the ceiling outside our bedrooms (as per code) I installed Kidde combination smoke AND carbon monoxide detectors. After a minor change in the outside intake and exhaust vents the building inspector was happy and I feel safer, especially since there have been a few home explosions in the news recently.

I live in a VERY arid area. R.H. is typically 10-15%. I don't know if that is a factor affecting its ability to detect butane. With a grill stick lighter used to test it, set on max, it would not detect anything. When I used a butane chef's torch set on max it quickly rose to 5% and a recorded voice said "attention please". Then at 10% the alarm sounded. The alarm is weak sauce. It's definitely not loud enough and nowhere near the loudness of a typical smoke detector alarm. I measured the sound levels. This sensor's alarm test is 83d dB. My smoke detector is over 110 db and the sound meter itself displays a warning to leave the area.IMO, this sensor is not near loud enough for a typical house in the US by size or of the house has multiple floors. Don't plan on hearing the alarm two rooms away while watching a decent action movie in the living room. You would need to buy several of them and place them near each gas line outlet or pipe joint. For a small apartment or dorm room or RV though it one may be fine.Even at the $35/ea price it is now, this is too expensive for what you get. Especially since it doesn't have a 9V battery backup. Consider what would happen in a storm that causes a power outage and a gas leak. In that case, this sensor won't detect anything. If you really are wanting the temperature and humidity sensor and don't care so much about the dangerous gas detection features, there are much less expensive options. So, -1 starts just for this.I also demote a star for grammar errors or inaccuracies in the manual. And this one has both. The manual and the ad are inconsistent with respect to the gases that it is supposed to detect. The ad claims much more than the manual documents. And this fact alone is suspiciously like a bait and switch tactic. I won't fall for it and am not distracted by a glitzy feature or color display.

Without a doubt the critical feature of this simple monitor is the real time display of the carbon monoxide (CO) level. Most devices only measure levels, this one displays them. In addition it contains a methane (natural gas) detector to alert you to a gas leak. For background, CO will be present whenever fossil fuels (natural gas, propane, kerosene, fuel oil, gasoline, diesel, etc) are burned. The ultimate goal is to exhaust the burned fumes to the outside so none remains in the living spaces. As I discovered, most CO monitors simply average the level over time and only sound an alarm when a threshold value is exceeded. The higher the level, the shorter the time to alarm. However, that means there could potentially be low level CO present for periods of time without any kind of warning. With a CO meter like this one you'll be able to monitor the level exactly and know precisely the PPM (parts per million) of CO present in the air you are breathing. Seems to me knowing what you're breathing is pretty important data!
