The GASHER check valve is machined from a solid brass casting. The casting has a tumbled finish and has no burrs or flashing. The threads are machined and have a slight burr on the outside. Mating PVC parts threaded in easily. A small amount of Teflon tape is provided and should be used for leak free sealing. The spring-loaded valve is screwed into the body and seals via a plastic disc mating to a machined brass surface. The valve is brass, and the spring is stainless steel. There appears nothing in the valve that would corrode. I am using a 1" valve in a 1" line to prevent backflow to a wellhead and a 3/4" version to prevent backflow from a pond to the house plumbing. Both valves are of good quality, appear to function properly, and are an improvement over the "flapper" style valve which requires proper orientation for installation.

The threads are cleanly machined and smooth. The casting appears to not have any inclusions or bubbles. The valve operates with no flutter at low pressure. A good price.

It's a solid 3/4" brass check valve. The check valve mechanism uses spring loaded one way stop. The spring is stainless steel and the closer to inlet is plastic. Ultimately the spring or the closer might fail. They can be taken out from the outlet side. The stopper ring on the outlet side can see marks from tightening. The price is reasonable.

The check valve is cast brass, and the insides look mostly brass as well. The threads are clean and not excessively sharp. It comes with a small amount of Teflon-type tape that also seems to be good quality (not the crumbly, brittle stuff that comes with some plumbing fixtures here). The tape is wrapped on a piece of cardboard, instead of a plastic drum, which is a nice reduction in plastic waste. Hooray! The part I received was a bit dinged up inside - you can see in the photo - it looks like it might have happened during assembly. Not a real problem but it does indicate that their assembly process could use improvement. Most of the text printed on the packaging is related to the California Prop 65 warning; also there is no mention of NSF/ANSI 61 so I would not recommend using this in a potable water system. Otherwise it seems like a nice, solid valve.
