I was reluctant to order this product because I couldn't decide if the hose was of the proper dimensions. Is 1/2" the Inner Diameter (I/D) or the Outer Diameter (O/D)? Why this information isn't in the Description, I don't know. After exhaustive research and phone tag with Gates Customer Service (they were less help than the Description here), I decided to TAKE A GAMBLE. Lucky for me, the GAMBLE paid off. Not only was the hose exactly what I needed, but of very HIGH QUALITY. For those of you who were wondering, the demensions are as follows:Inner Diameter: 1/2"Outer Diameter: 3/4"Wall Thickness: 1/8"Total Length: 6'Would have given this product 5 Stars, however, as I write this, the product description is still extremely vague, so I hope this review answers many questions. Even still, I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

Heater hose is not ordinary hose you can buy at Ace even if the hoses look identical. Heater hoses must withstand almost boiling water temperatures and they do for as long as two or three years before showing signs of impending failure. Modern engines operate at much higher temperatures and the hoses must be much better than "the old days".Hoses and tubing that might look identical are not always so.Icemaker tubing for instance is zero pressure tubing and is specially created to be fungus free. Identical looking tubing at Ace is not specifically created to be fungus free and will grow black fungus in a very short time in that application while factory tubing will never grow fungus. What the difference in chemistry is will forever be a mystery but it is what it is/.This hose from Amazon is less money than department store look alike hose but unlike the department store hose will handle the temperature cycling for several years. I personally change my hoses belts batteries plugs coolant etc at least every once every two years. I do not allow anybody else to mess with the things I know to be EXPENDABLES on my vehicles. I buy the parts and install them using the best care lubricants and always change the hose clamps. The first thing I learned when I bought a 2 engine cruiser was the previous owner had taken the time to change the hoses as well as add double stainless clamps on every connection. One failed clamp is a big deal on a boat. Extra belts in inboard outboard already inside the front engine mount provide the ability to change the belt anytime it becomes necessary with minimal tools Failure of a belt you cannot change out to sea is not fun and will ruin your day year or life. Think ahead and buy the right stuff made to do the job.Failure on the road is extremely expensive.
