Many of the plugs in the package are useless, being oversized enough to not fit into a half inch wide Forstner bored hole. About 20% of the plugs in the package are poorly made - very roughly finished. If you do purchase this product, buy considerable extra than what you actually need. The quality is very poor and will take much longer to install than well-made plugs. My solution was to drill a sequence of 1/2" holes in a scrap piece of oak plywood. Then drill a 1/8" hole through the bottom of each Forstner hole. Install the oak plugs into the holes and apply reasonable pressure to seat them as you would in your project. Take that to the belt sander and sand off the part of the plugs that protrude above the plywood. Then use a little length of metal wire to poke through the 1/8" holes drilled through the plywood (from the back) to release the plugs. Cheap materials are not cheap, when you consider the extra work that goes into using them.

I used these to cover screw holes in an oak porch swing, but the quality was not very consistent. The plug thickness varies, and most turned out significantly darker after sanding and poly. Many are slightly more oval than circular, as well. It will be ok for this project, but I wouldn’t use these on a finer oak project unless using somewhere more inconspicuous.

Plugs are as described. Not a pack of 50, though, even though that is what the headline description says. Packs are of 45, which is what the picture of the pack says.
