It doesn't fit, the threads bottomed out before the 'O' ring made contact, so I cleaned the old one and reinstalled it

Used this to fix my leaky vent assembly on a 2000 Tahoe. Very easy to replace, no need to disassemble anything. Mine had the original black plastic one. This is the updated white plastic/metal one you want.

I have a 1990 Chevy k2500 light duty pickup with the 8.25” IFS front diff. The stock vent tube fitting broke off inside the hose and the gear lube was leaking out from it splashing around while driving. The part number stamped into my stock vent Assembly was 26015414. I googled the part number and this part was the only result. It was listed on every single website as “8.25 IFS vent and breather assembly” so I went ahead and purchased it.Compared to my old one, this one is white as opposed to my old one being black. The old one seemed to seal with a rubber sealant around the outside, this one has an O ring. Same shape and all but just O ring VS sealer. There is also 1 less thread on the new one. The hose nipple is a smaller diameter so I had to use some extra tubing to go onto the nipple and then use a step-up hose barb to connect it with the stock hose. All in all though, it threaded into my differential and I made the tubing work, so now I at least don’t have a hole in my diff. The hex size is 24mm. Use a 6 point socket only. When you put the new one in be extremely careful. Make sure it is perfectly straight, and start it as much as you can by hand. Then when you put a ratchet on it and tighten it, it should have slight resistance as you tighten it but it should not get tighter as you keep going. It shouldn’t tighten up at all until it hits the O ring.

Stopped the small leak that I was having from my front differential. 5 minute fix once I took off the left front tire.
