I have better guitar stands. I'm sure we all do. The purpose of this is to bring a stand when playing outside of my home studio. I really like having a stand but I also want to limit my gear. I'm 100% sold on Amp Modeling now. I bring my Pod Go and I have a couple speakers. It's still easy than lugging an Amp and I don't necessarily need the speakers every time. Sometimes I can hook up my Pod Go to a PA system or whatever when we're practicing. We have a couple different locations to practice. I think this is a nice little stand because it's very compact. I bought a few different styles of these V stands. This one folds up the smallest. Its sturdy enough. I will take it. The less gear to bring the better.

This review is for the GBS-6 model, which is meant to be used for either electric or acoustic guitars. I am actually using it to hold two electric guitars at the same time on stage where there isn't enough room for two stands. (It holds one of the two guitars when I'm playing, but between sound check and the performance, I put one in front of the other on the stand.) I chose this stand because it folds down very small -- small enough to fit in the pocket of a gig bag. That's a huge plus when already carrying an amp, two guitars and a pedal board to practice or a gig. The plastic construction isn't ideal, but I appreciate the light weight for my use. I don't like the color or styling; it's a little toy-like. I would prefer a simple stage black appearance, but that's not a dealbreaker for me.

I've had a variety of guitar stands, a few of them foldable. This is the first design that is portable and simple to use. The Donner stand I have is aluminum and sturdy, but this stand is much quicker to pack away and set up. It's all one piece with hinges to swing out and open. Sets up in literally 2 seconds.Te body is all plastic. It feels rigid enough to hold up over time though. And the hinge for the 2 sides is steel. That should hold up as well. The base has pads on the feet to prevent movement and also not scratch your floor. It opens wide enough to create a stable base for any guitar I would want to use it for. I've rocked it around with a guitar on it, and unless you really hit it, it's going to keep your guitar in place and upright. The cradle includes the same sort of silicone like material to make sure your guitar isn't going to be scratching your guitar. It has the double level system, which is pretty standard for guitar stands. The higher level allows for a thick bodied acoustic or fatter hollow body guitar. The lower level is thinner for a thin bodied electric. Works well to hold any sized instrument. The place I worry most about, is what is pushing into the back body of the guitar at the top of the stand, with this type of design. Ghostfire did a great job putting a button at that spot that is both soft and grippy. Should keep your guitar in place, unless you really knock it over. This stand is portable enough to slip into a case that has an external pocket. It isn't the thinnest, at around 1.25", so you likely aren't going to fit this into a hard case, but not sure anyone would want to do that anyway.

I have a Talon and was going to get another, but it doesnt look like they are available anymore, which ended up being a good thing. The Talon collapsed on me a few times and i finally glued the spine to hold it in place. It worked. This GB5 is nice, sturdy, rubber contact areas and locks open so it cant collapse. Very happy with it !

First, I like this design a lot. It folds neatly, almost but not quite flat. Easily portable. As far as function goes, yea, it holds your guitar. The rubber bumpers are protective and I didn't see any glaring risk of finish damage. Of course, with a more delicate nitro finish I'd be careful with any stand but that should go without saying. But what I like most about the design is the retro aesthetic. This brings a kind of 90's school computer center PC vibe to the table that you're either gonna love or hate. It's that creamy grey plastic that you're either gonna immediately know what I'm talking about or think I'm nuts. Overall, I think it's a pretty interesting and unique take on a standard folding guitar stand and I like it a lot.
