I spent years using the cheap torches that come with kits at the big box stores and it always took forever to get a proper connection. I would watch DIY videos and couldn't figure out why they could work so fast and it took me minutes to get the pipe hot enough to melt solder. Turns out you need a proper torch. I threw my old one away.

I’m a complete amateur. If you need a pro review, go to another review. Rock solid performance. The wand allows me to get the torch into spaces (between studs/joists/other pipes) that would be problematic with a fixed position wand. Two thumbs up.

This small torch came in very handy in the work that I do. It's made of high quality brass, so it's very durable, and not like cheap plastic models. I highly recommend this product. It's a must have for small pipe soldering

Have been looking for a small flame propane burner that puts out a fairly small and concentrated flame. Bought quite a few different ones trying to get there until I found this and it has worked perfectly. I use this to anneal brass casings for reloading and this allows me to aim the flame directly at the brass shoulder without heating up everything around it. Works great.

30 years plumbing and always used Turbo-Torch brand forsoldering /brazing. From my hand held to my b-tank rig. Well, I just found there replacment. Feels better made. Looks better made user friendly orifice accessibility. With a nice controlled tight hot flame. Crazy how quick it heats up steel, but not the torch tip. Highly recommend this torch

I’ve been a plumber for 20 years and have lots of experience working with different torches. The Goss torches have been around a long time and are high quality. The weight of the torch, flame and the metals used meets the mark of quality. I definitely recommend it. There are a lot of bad quality torches out there but this one is a good buy.

Could not find a torch with a striker where the flame was concentrated perfectly and lasted more than a week until now. Goss did a heck of a job with this torch head. Striker fires up every single time. I can use the flame on low without damaging the striker. I use this torch on copper pipes up to 2” and even heats up the 2” pipe pretty quick on the highest setting. All around best torch head I’ve ever owned.

This is getting 4 stars, currently- as opposed to 5 based just off a first impression. I bought this after owning and using 2 different Bernzomatic TS8000's (one was an older version, painted grey, the newer one is painted black which is the current one I own). I do occasional plumbing fixes that aren't rocket science around our home and apartments, adding an outdoor spigot here, maybe re-routing a wall mount faucet to a sink mount there... occasional use. Recently, however we had to re-run a new hot and cold water line at a rental because the lines in the concrete slab sprang leaks into the slab after a few decades, and it was cheaper and easier to run the hot water overhead through a crawl space. Our plumber had purchased this for well over $100 at a plumbing supply after someone stole his from a job site and I took noticed at how fast and easy his torch seemed to solder connections over my Bernzo. It was enough that I thought mine came with a faulty tip for the flame regulator so I replaced it with a new Bernzomatic of their upper end model and the flame was the exact same- WAY too large despite whatever setting it was placed at. I won't complain, it got stuff hot, but it almost was impossible in most cases (soldering 1/2" under sinks) that even our plumber said, this flame is way too large and it had a tendency to overheat the spots it needed so the solder wouldn't flow into the joints. I won't say the Bernzomatic is terrible, it's just better if you're going to solder something over an inch in diameter.Just bit the bullet after a frustrating day of trying to use my Bernzo 2 days ago for adding 2 water spigots to a line outside for some hoses (the Bernzo kept heating EVERYTHING including the 3/4" coupling so the solder wouldn't draw in) and bought this. For those wondering- the image for this is not the model that ships. It's the same model, only the updated version ships- I don't know why there are two GP-600's on Amazon for two different prices, about $30-40 apart...Anyways- Haven't used it yet, but first impression is the flame is WAY more compact and perfect for typical apartment and home work which centers around 1/2" and 3/4" copper. The flame is extremely tight and the adjustment quality is far superior to the output of the Bernzomatic. The casing, however is plastic and feels cheaper compared to the Bernzomatic, but the actual metal and mechanical parts feel better.Flame output: Comparing the Goss to the Bernzomatic, the Goss produces a smaller, tighter flamer ideal for up to a 1" pipe, or larger, but it excels at the flame throw. It has a significantly shorter throw than the Bernzomatic by 2-3 inches. When both torches are dialed for the flame sweetspot to match, the Bernzomatic throws orange and blue flames about 3 inches farther than the Goss which is not great for working in cramped quarters.
