The pasta extruder attachment works very well, much better thajn I would have expected. I already have multiple machines and attadchments with rolllers which are great for flat pasta, but they caj not produce hollow tubes like ziti, penne or rigatoni. This attachment comes with a variety of disk to make all of those and more. It also has awire cutter on the end which works very well for cutting pasta to the size you want. I found it very easy to work with, even though I used a different rtecipe than the ojne provided because I wanted to make spinach pasta. The enmtire process, from assmbling th4e attachment to making the dough and shaping with the extruder took less than 20 minutes. It is also easier to clean than other attachments I have, and fcan even goo in the dishwasher.I have a big, solid pasta machine fro,m Italy which my mom sent me years ago. I suspect that I will be using this more because it takes a lot less time to clean than the machine, and produces pasta which is just as good.

Have just been using the bowl part of our mixer till now. This is our first time trying out attachments such as this and it wasn't that bad. Being able to duplicate the the shapes like rigatoni and fusilli was pretty cool. Consistency was a little off at first, but that was more us than the attachment. Once we got it right we were able to really crank out some pasta. Sometimes when we sliced with the little rotating knife the pasta would get pushed together. I think that was more related to our consistency, not the cutter. The only part that was less satisfying was the cleaning. I think the best way to go about that is to clean your attachments as soon as your done with them. We let ours sit for about an hour and some of it was fairly stubborn to get off.Overall this attachment feels like a good upgrade and wish we had gotten one with the machine in the first place. We might be experts by now.

I have used this once, so this this review is definitely a first impression. This Kitchenaid pasta attachment works great and is extra convenient since you can make the dough and form it into various pasta shapes using the same machine. For our first attempt, we used the fusilli die and what we got were star shaped logs of pasta that hold the sauce well. The directions tell you to add a walnut sized lump of dough at a time, but this is ridiculous. If you do this, you will get pasta that is less than 1/2 inch long. We adjusted to put in a lump that was roughly the size of a sausage and this allowed us to cut the pasta into lengths roughly two inches long. It takes a little longer than you would expect to force the pasta through the mold, but it eventually comes out flawlessly. Then just cut it using the wire blade that is attached to the unit.On our first try, the pasta come out amazing. It was delicious and much better than store bought dried pasta.Clean up, on the other hand, is a pain. The dough gets in every groove and crevice of the attachment, so you need to exert quite a bit of effort to clean it. It does come with a useful brush that has a pointy scraper on the handle, which helps a little bit.Overall, I am satisfied with this. And we will use it often.

I have been doing sourdough breads for about 6 months now and I wanted to give sourdough pasta making a try. In my first attempt I was able to make great pasta with this Kitchenaid attachment. The attachment was pretty self explanatory. The directions were good for how to assemble the press and take it apart and what speeds to use for each of the different noodle types. There was even a recipe in there for some egg noodles which I will have to try next. It would have been nice if there was a little better direction on how to actually use it, things like how much dough to push in, how long it takes for the noodles to start coming out, whether or not you need to feed the dough in or if it will just pull it in on its own, etc. Once you use it once you quickly figure all of this out but I did scratch my head for a minute or two once I turned it on and couldn't figure out if anything was happening or not. It just takes some time for the auger to get primed. For my first batch I used the small macaroni noodle die. I could tell there was an extreme amount of force required to get the dough to go thru the die. There was some creaking noise coming out of the press. Also, when I took the press apart to clean it there was dough forced into alot of the seams of the attachment and places where it shouldn't have been. Nothing broke and it was all cleanable but I think a few more metal pieces rather than plastic on this would make it a little more rigid. Also, there is a plastic pusher that is shown in the pictures to help push the dough into the auger without getting your fingers in there. The design of it is quite terrible. There is a big loop on it that I have no idea what it is for. It looks like it should almost attach to something but the directions are lacking clear insight. I think a better design on this piece would be much better. All of these downsides are pretty minor but they add up so I am only giving this 4 stars. For the price point it isn't a dirt cheap attachment so I think they could do a little better on value with a few upgrades.
