This precision engineered nut is made with a specially formulated material which couples the strings' vibrations to the neck and brings out the hidden harmonics and richness in every note. It is based on the highly resonant TUSQ man made ivory, but is impregnated with PTFE to improve the tuning performance of the guitar. How does it work? Other nut materials have a tendency to bind the strings in their slots. When you are tuning your guitar you might hear the tell tale "ping" of the strings releasing under tension or have difficulty keeping your guitar in tune when using a tremolo or doing string bends. There are many temporary solutions to this problem, but wouldn't you rather a permanent one? Black TUSQ XL has PTFE lubrication impregnated all the way through the material (PTFE is the slipperiest substance on earth...500 times more slippery than graphite.), so you never have to worry about string binding at the nut again. Since the PTFE is impregnated right through the material, it doesn't matter if you sand or file to a different shape, it will keep on working. Super easy install. Pre-cut slots saved a lot of time and the material makes for a good tone on string vibration transfer. I would buy this again for my next nut replacement.

This one part, installed on an otherwise absolutely "perfect" Guitar fixed the only problem that I could find with it. You know those "pings" that happen when a cheap plastic, or an incorrectly manufactured bone type of nut is on your guitar and you get those "pings". That can't be good. You know those "pings" that sometimes cause a string to go "out of tune", or worse case scenario break a string. Don't laugh, It's happened to me before, and if it hasn't to you, it will someday, if you live long enough!I mean to tell you that after purchasing and installing one of these, Now, {on my other Guitar} I am seriously thinking about replacing a very expensive {name brand omitted to save me from any legal repercussions} "Ball bearing" type of nut, that before, I thought was "as good as it gets"! Well, it may be as good as it gets for a Guitar that has a "wiggle stick" on it {a wiggle stick is what I call a tremolo unit on a guitar}. However I am still thinking of changing {my other guitar} over to one of these nuts I WANT to give this product "Three Thumbs Up' except I only have two thumbs!
