So the cage is a fantastic size for 2 ferrets or maybe even 3! BUT! If they miss their litter box or go where they aren’t supposed to go, the grey wood ends up getting stained and there isn’t much else you can really do besides clean it obviously and hope for the best.Whatever you do, don’t use paper towels like I did… it completely shredded them while I was attempting to clean some poop off of the sides. Same goes for the ramps, use something else other than paper towel. And they stain easily as well.I did however find out that the ramp covers sold by critter nation actually fit these ramps! But you just can’t velcro it at the top of the ramp and they slide down a bit, but they will fit! Also, the wood putting this thing together isn’t the sturdiest stuff in the world. It cracks really easily when putting it together. Don’t let that scare you though, just take your time while putting it together and you shouldn’t have many issues if any.Lastly, the tray on the bottom, you have to lift the bottom ramp at the same time as you pull the bottom tray out. Which isn’t a difficult task for me, but to some it may be.

In putting this item today we realized the manufacturer really skimped on the quality of hardware and design. The screws instructed to hold the wheels on are too small (as shown in picture). The head of the screw is too small and just falls through the holes on the wheels…we had to angle them to get them to even remotely hold the wheel on which resulted in the wood splitting. (Seen in pictures)The clasps that anchor the bottom wooden flap where you retrieve the tray, were such a thin and cheap metal that they literally bend when you’re trying to maneuver the clasps.Multiple screws stripped being installed with screwdrivers when trying put them in places where there aren’t pre-drilled holes. The screws the instruction say to when fastening the ramps were also too long and busted through the bottom of the wood. (Also shown in the picture)Overall, my rats are VERY happy with the cage but personally I don’t believe it should be priced at almost $300 after shipping costs, if the manufacturer cannot provide correctly sized hardware as well as decent quality hardware.

So while I'll give it 3 stars based on the size, it really is the size that is the only saving grace. The wood is very low quality and the paint looks like one very thin layer was added to it for the sake of looking at from far away. Wood is also chipped and cracked in multiple places. Theres no way it'll survive any animals with teeth. The manual to build it was easy enough, but I do recomend that you have a drill to speed the process along. And now... the big issue. The smell.I don't know WHAT happened, if it's the foam packaging, the wood itself, what, but the SMELL on all the pieces was like watered down vapo rub and moss put together. Very strong, and very odd.No, there's no sign of mold anywhere, and for sure nothing in or on the packaging, but as soon as that box was open... yikes.Had to let the pieces air out for 24hrs before even attempting to put it together incase it could be toxic to my rabbit. Not buying again, and honestly would have resold it if I didn't need the cage to house an animal at the last minute. 10/10 do not recommend buying at this particular price point.Pay less and get the same quality. Seriously.Almost forgot:Fiber glass. There was fiber glass on some of the pieces. Not fond of the work that went into having to deep clean everything outside to make sure nothing would make my animals sick.

Very heavy!!!! Not sellers fault but since the package was so BULKY AND HEAVY the fed ex driver that delivered my package just rolled it out of the back of her truck and let gravity deliver it right to my sidewalk. This caused damage to a few of the wooden panels and split one up the side. The cage is still useable and works as it should. Overall I’m pleased with my purchase. I wish it was a bit more sturdy. My biggest worry was if my rescue RATS would be able to chew… the answer is no! Pretty much every surface with an edge is lined with metal. On the inside, the areas where the panels conjoin are covered by the wiring. Only DOWNSIDE is to get the pull out tray out you must take every tier out from tap to bottom. If not you risk stripping the hinges on the ramps.Dec 01, 2023New star rating: ⭐️⭐️My two rats sadly passed away mid year due to natural causes. They comfortably lived in this poorly designed palace for maybe 6 months after I bought it. It’s spacious, I was able to hang a lot of things on the grid for them. Some fasteners that came with my attachments wouldn’t fit in the grid. The grid also didn’t hold in shavings like I wanted it too. I ended up making a ton of reusable bedding out of old T-shirts. The wood is unfinished and gets very dirty even with regular cage cleanings. There was nothing on the wood that protected it from moisture. The hinges that attach the ramps to the panels rusted which made removing them 10x harder. I am very disappointed that I bought this cage for the original price, around $250. I see why it’s listed at $170 now. If you want to go ahead and get this cage despite the frustration listed above just know you will probably want a drill to put it together. Using said drill, don’t fasten the main panels together too tightly because moving the shelves will cause too much friction and they will get stuck often. To combat this I moved the shelves up just barely to get the tray out. Having to do this eventually made the hinges strip from the ramps. You need to clean from top to bottom to prevent dirtying anything else. If you were wondering, my rats didn’t chew. But I added a pic of the rusted screws. The cage is currently in storage and has gotten fairly dirty but did not continue to rust. The rust definitely came from using it indoors. You can see where one screw is still silver, my rats had a rope toy that draped over that screw.
