We have the hardest water and this workhorse make the best distilled water at a fraction of the of the cost of store bought. Easy to use and maintain. My humidifier thanks you to as does my iron, hand wash clothing and my cat.

This is the first time I am writing a review for an Amazon purchase, but I just had to speak out on the H2O Labs Best-In-Class Stainless Steel Water Distiller we purchased on January 19, 2022. I will admit that this may be one of those lengthy reviews so for those of you with little patience I will say upfront that this is a stellar device. It outperforms any of our expectations and I highly recommend it.OK, for those willing to stick around for the longer version, here we go. We live on a 100 acre farm and over the past 30+ years approximately 7 gas wells have been dug on the property. All but two of those have been capped and sealed. We always wondered if some of the residual petroleum may have leached into the water table. Several years ago, we had our water tested and nothing objectionable was reported. However, when we would leave a glass of water sitting overnight, the next morning there would be a lovely rainbow of oil on the surface. I don’t think it takes an Einstein to know that something wasn’t right. Therefore, we searched for a water distiller. We weren’t prepared to spend a thousand dollars, but we wanted one we could depend on. The Best-In-Class seemed to fit both our pocket and our needs. We couldn’t be more impressed with the water it produces and how well it works. We make approximately 3 gallons of distilled water a day. This keeps us, and our animals and indoor garden, in clean, healthy water. I was a little concerned about keeping it clean, especially after seeing some pictures of heavy sediment left in the bottom. Well, let me tell you, with a minimum of care, it stays clean and smooth. After each production we put approximately 1/3 cup of vinegar in the bottom, let it sit for about 15 minutes, then we go in with a nylon scrub cloth and wash the bottom and sides thoroughly. Every other time we also add a few drops of Dawn dish soap. We rinse it thoroughly after and refill for the next batch. A little thing like plugging the cord in is made even simpler with the little white mark on each cord that tells you when you have them properly seated. They have made it as carefree as possible. We start a batch in the morning, in the mid-afternoon and then at night.I highly recommend the H2O Labs Best-In-Class Stainless Steel Water Distiller for anyone who wants to live a healthier life. If you have had issues with kidney or bladder stones, using distilled water will significantly help you reduce your chanced of getting another one. City water is filled with so many caustic chemicals we would be shocked to know. Even well water is not what we think it is. I truly believe my families health has been made better because of this purchase. Thank you for your patience. You can trust this distiller.UPDATE A YEAR LATER:We loved this distiller until we started having issues with it stopping mid process. We contacted the seller and they said "No problem we will send out a replacement thermal control and that should take care of it." We waited and waited but no replacement part arrived. We placed a second call and was told it was still sitting there and they would send it out. We waited another two weeks and still no replacement part, so called again. This time they finally sent it but replacing the part did not work. Thank goodness we had purchased Asurion insurance so we contacted them and got our money back. The machine is good but don't buy from these folks. The customer service does not exist.

5/27/21 I live in a part of the country where the tap water is undrinkable due to caliche. I have a water softener that removes much of the caliche for the water inside of the house while my outdoor taps are just city water. For drinking/cooking purposes I have a reverse osmosis (RO) system under my sink that feeds a single tap. When I got this distiller the instructions said to run a gallon through it and throw it away. I used the RO water for that gallon and there was almost no residue in the tank--which tells me that my RO unit is doing a pretty good job. The tank cleaned out easily. I dumped that gallon out on an oleander, which didn't die--another good sign. I did the next gallon with my house (softened, not RO) water. There was a little brownish gunk and quite a bit of salt residue in the tank. It took just a bit of effort to clean out the residue. That wasn't a surprise as the softener works by passing the city water through salt in order to remove most of the caliche. I next ran a gallon of city water (not RO or softened) through the unit. There was a large amount of brownish gunk without a lot of salt. It took a fair amount of effort to clean out the residue--think food burned onto a pan level of effort. The tank stank when I opened it but after washing it the tank had no smell. The gallons from the RO and softened water were crystal clear with no taste or odor. The gallon from the city water was crystal clear with no odor but there was the faintest taste to it. It was drinkable and if I hadn't been really tuned in to any taste/odor I may have missed the taste. I certainly wouldn't have picked up the taste if it had been in tea or other flavored beverage. So far I am impressed with the unit. I bought it mainly to have something on hand in case there is a disruption in the water supply - it is a good bet that gas pipelines aren't the only things controlled by computers - as I wanted to be able to turn almost any water into something drinkable. The $250 price tag is worth it to me for that reason. The unit is about as loud as a house fan turned on high and it expels hot air for the entire 5.5 hour run time. This isn't an issue for me as I have been running it in the garage. I think in the winter I might try it out in my bedroom at night as I run a fan anyway (for white noise) and the heat can then warm up the room. For the ratings, I'll put easy to clean as 4 stars because nasty water will take some real effort. I'm going with 5 stars for value for the money as the unit is doing what it needs to do and comes with 5 extra filters--enough to make 180 gallons. I'm also going with 5 stars for flavor as it rendered my undrinkable city water to nearly tasteless.

Excellent product, works quietly and is easy to set up, use and clean. Very pleased customer. Putting the spout in is a little tricky, but take your time and be gentle and it will click into place. Be sure also to gently slide the water pitcher straight away from the distiller when preparing to use and after it is full, so to not bump the spout. I put a paper towel underneath the pitcher to avoid scratching it and make it easy to slide to and from the distiller. I like that everything is stainless steel and glass, and the porcelain spout is a nice addition. Plus a gallon at a time is perfect for daily or family use. I wash the interior after every use with dish soap and a standard nonabrasive green sponge then wipe down with a cotton dish towel, takes only a couple minutes. This easily removes most the debris buildup. Also, the debris buildup that remains is only on the bottom. After 20 uses, I put a half inch of water in the base of the distiller with 1/4 teaspoon of the provided cleaner. I let it sit for a few hours and the debris buildup was completely dissolved and easily rinsed out, restoring the interior to original luster. This product is more expensive than other models, but it totally delivers. As an aside, it is shocking how much junk accumulates in just one gallon of tap water. I store in gallon glass bottles offered on Amazon. I re-mineraliz with 1/4 teaspoon Himalayan Sea salt per gallon before use and the water tastes great. I will never go back to drinking water any other way. Gratitude to this company for producing such a wonderful product! EA
