Oh Its ah? White! has some threads. Auh? It unscrews and screws back when turned but it must be clockwise.

Trying to tighten the hex to the pump is almost impossible, as the threaded slip ring ends up covering the hex up when putting it together. When I started the pump, there was a small leak with no way of making the connection tighter.. so I had to cut it off and buy a new connection. Ended up wasting my money. This may work fine if you have an expensive spanner wrench..

Installed in a snap! Quick and easy installation with Hayward Star-Clear Plus Filter system. I also recommend some thread sealant and good PVC cement.

If you are installing a new filter or pool pump, make its connections using union fittings like this one so that you can easily remove the pump for repair or replacement when the time comes. You do have to careful to make sure there isn't much force on the pipes - so cut and measure carefully and get your angles straight or else the union might leak. Do all your fitting and gluing with it fully assembled.
