I got this heat gun because I saw our water dispenser guy close our water tanks with a plastic label thing around the cap of the tank to seal it and keep it from knocking the cap off of the tank. And many times while transporting the water tank or pushing it into our water dispenser it had come undone. This works great and it can be used for many other things like resin crafts, even self adhesive lamination, you name it. It works well it’s easy to handle and you can set the heath level depending on what you want to use it for. Like it so much!

I ordered this heat gun to expand upon my crafting abilities and it is exactly what I needed. I prefer a digital interface and this was the most affordable option that I could get quickly. It has not disappointed. It takes about 20-30 seconds to get fully up to temperature and requires 10 seconds to cool before turning off. Just things to be aware of.

Model reviewed: QR610AAt first, I thought this was a toy. I was wrong, but it took a bit for me to get over my initial impression. The device is mostly plastic, as are the switches and controls. I tried it out and validated it with a laser thermometer, and it’s the real deal. Because it is lightweight, it is not a problem to hold it for a while. So here is how it really works:On the back of the handle is a slide switch, labeled I, II, Off.In switch position I, it will heat up to 200º C (392º F).In switch position II, it will heat up to 600º C (1,112º F).If you put it in the Off position, the tool will continue to run for 10 seconds to cool down, and the temperature indicator (see second photo) will switch to a countdown indicator. Also in this photo, you can see the temperature setting at 356º F. I’m pretty sure the device began in Centigrade mode and all my poking around somehow changed it to Fahrenheit, but have no idea how I did it (but I like it).I installed the tip that had five diameters, then set the slide switch to 2 and adjusted the temperature to 752º F using the button on the right side of the screen. (Then temperature changes in jumps, not smoothly). I pointed it at a piece of wood while tracking the temperature of the wood with the laser thermometer. Eventually, the wood started turning dark, and finally blackened at a pretty good rate. I confirmed the temperature exceeded 700º F.My theory is that the slide switch sets the range of temps, while the plus and minus buttons on each side of the display are for picking the temp you want in that range. The device turns on the heating elements until the airflow reaches the set temperature, and then cycles to maintain it.When I was done, I had a device that had a tip at 700º F and I did not want to put it anywhere near anything combustible, but I found it sits very nicely with the tip up, which is where I left it until it had cooled down. The first photo shows everything that comes with the tool. The shrink wrap addition is quite nice. I wish there was something to organize the tips. Note that the tool is rated at 2000W, which exceeds the capacity of a 15 amp 120 volt circuit.
