This is a little different heat shrink product than the typical plastic or vinyl pieces for tool handles or electrical connections. The intended use is to cover a length of rope or other material that is subject to abrasion, such as running through a chock or over a pully. In that regard it is flexible even after it is shrunk onto the rope, And does appear to be constructed to withstand abrasion. (In the very old days a rope would be wrapped with a combination of twine and canvas for the same purpose.)Heat shrink works as advertised, but it is important to look at the parameters and get the right size for your use. Look in particular to the shrunk size, and that should be a little bit smaller than your intended use -- In this way the rap shrinks tight, holds in place, and does not move or slide on the rope. Also pay attention to the profile of the original piece. Some use cases may require the oval, whereas your typical rope is best in the round profile. Now of course only time will tell if this material wears out faster than it is supposed to, and this review will be updated if anything untoward is noted or if the product fails in the future. For now it looks like a very interesting product. You could probably use it for other purposes, such as a wooden tool handle, But I've not yet tested it for that purpose. ..

Stuff is legit and beefy. It is perfect for a lot of uses but for me it is covering some winch line near the lead.Be aware, a blow dryer won't get this done. You need some serious heat to shrink this up. It is pretty rigid too, so be aware. This isn't a flimsy sleeve.
