Product was not as wet as it needed to be. Liquid had escaped because the lid wasn’t sealed properly.

I asked my local music store for this product, and was told that their cost (theirs, not the retail price) from their wholesaler was three times what the price on Amazon was.If you haven't used these, give them a try. Great to use once per week between regular soap and water cleanings.Be sure to poke the ball into your leadpipe with a pen or pencil. Only placing it just past the mouthpiece will not give you adequate pressure to blow it through the tubing.

Weekly cleaning could not be easier with this. It's not a "thorough" cleaning but it only takes a few seconds. Push the spitball past the mouthpiece receiver with your pencil, put in the mouthpiece, hold all pistons down, and blow. The spitball travels through all the tubing in an instant and comes out with a disguisting amount of dirt if you have not cleaned the trumpet for awhile. I

My most recommended trombone product. It’s almost a cleaner and a lube in one. If you already know how to use it, then I have a tip you might want. I set my tuning slide almost all the way out, so it’s fully extended. And then I set the spitball in my trombone, and extend my slide all the way out and blow through. I personally love the large size. The small ones just go through too easily and don’t clean as much.

These can be useful in situations when it may not be practical to have a brass instrument cleaned another way.I use them on my double rotor bass trombone and mostly to clear out any buildup in the valve tubing and in the inside slide tubes. These are actually safer for getting the inside of the handslide tubes because cleaning rods and cloths can get stuck. Spitballs come out by just blowing them out.One caveat: when I run them through the entire instrument with both valve triggers depressed it cleans the rotors to the point where I have to oil them again. The rubbing alcohol displaces the oil so it needs to be reapplied. I do like the cleaning action overall, so this is a minor inconvenience. I will probably squeeze the extra rubbing alcohol out before using them through the valves next time.

I am not overly impressed by these. They do remove some grime but can't replace a thorough cleaning. We used one in a large-bore trombone and had to blow really hard. We thought it was stuck but it did come loose. If you are someone who likes to snack while practicing (yuck), they would probably be of more use to you than they are to us. We also bought a smaller size for a smaller bored trombone. That went through much easier, but didn't pick up as much grime.

After I was introduced to these little guys I couldn't see a time where I wouldn't use them anymore. These are a great way to clean your horn between big chemical/ultrasound cleans, something that serious horn players should always do in my opinion. It's super easy to do, just put the horn together (if it's a trombone), put a Spitball in (without the mouthpiece in the horn, you can clean that using other things), and simply blow it through the horn. Though make sure that you are blowing the Spitball towards something that can get wet and that can "catch" it, because they fly out of the horn pretty fast. I just put some paper towels over a music stand and blow into that, it works pretty well for me. If you are using a rental/school horn and its smelly, this is the best way to clean it to get rid of that smell without going to a shop to get it cleaned. Of course a slide snake can help with that too, just depends on how smelly and dirty the insides of the horn are... So if your horn is disgusting this won't solve all of the problems, but these are a good touch up.
