I see a lot of reviews here saying "i don't play the flute but it looks nice and the person i bought it for who also doesn't play likes it, so its great!" I do play the flute. I played for 5 years, then unfortunately had to sell my flute due to life. I was looking for a cheap flute to get me started again.First things first, this is a student flute. They're made with cheaper parts and lower quality, and therefore have a lower price, but it comes at the cost of sound quality. Some student flutes sound better than others, but you'll never find a high what student flute. Want high quality? Pay for a professional flute. That said, for being a student flute, this flute has great sound.Secondly, and more irritatingly, it cane damaged. Several keys were bent, 2 pads needed replaced, and one of the rods was bent. I spent 80$ fixing it before i ever played it.Overall, I like this flute a lot, though ill probably end up replacing it with an intermediate closed-hold flute in the near future because I find myself missing mine greatly.

Last year I purchased a Hisonic clarinet for my oldest. The price was right, and the music teacher was happy with it for beginner purposes. As a result of that experience, despite Guitar Center's best efforts, I went with this flute for the next kid in line for school lessons. It again seems to be perfect for at least a beginner. I helped unpack and assemble it. It seemed quite sturdy, and from what I gather it plays as expected.

This was a great starter flute for my child's band.We were not sure that she'd stick with it for long or that she'd do it again. However, it's been two years of band and she's still at it.So, it was worth the price given the doubts. It's definitely well made and does sound good (with practice)The case unfortunately didn't make it. Kids are hard on things.

Feels cheaply made to me, but my daughter loves it. She's an intermediate flute player who's used to playing on Yamaha flutes.

This flute is simply garbage. my daughter has been in marching band for 8 years spending the last 4 of those years as a section leader in a school that took State once and Grand champions in all categories twice so believe me when I say she really knows how to play. When the pads gave out on her last flute we found this one two be a comparable replacement. when we got it, it looked ok but felt very cheap and played horribly. shes had it two weeks and it is still lousy. I beg you not to buy this piece of crap. Spare yourself and your kids the dissapointnent.

We are very satisfied with what we got, the price and the shipping was really what we needed it to be: express. We liked the cleaning rod's feature (a hole at the end, very useful)and the packing. We certainly are grateful for the quality of your service. The only thing we didn't like is that we never knew (did not find it in the net or elsewhere) where are these musical instruments manufactured, where is the headquarters of the brand and if the brand has any relation with the brand Selmet. Thank you for being interested in our opinion.

I wanted to teach my kids music. I played flute in concert and marching band 25 yrs ago. I ordered this and have been having a blast playing, The only notes I've had trouble with reaching is any high octive G and above... but, that's really okay with me, and again I have not played in 25 yrs... so take my review with a grain of salt. I enjoy the tone and quality for the money. Shipping was fine and it was well packed. It came with a hard shell case and cleaning rod. It's been a joy, Thank You!!

I bought this for my daughter's music class. I like the price since most music stores carry expensive brands. It is hard to know if your kids will like it or not so I didn't want to spend too much. The flute met our expectation in many ways. The delivery was fast, the packaging was secure and no complaints at all.

My 8 year old grandson decided he wanted to play the flute, and I offered to buy him one (he is not touching my Haynes or Powell instruments). This flute was inexpensive, and, surprisingly, has a split E mechanism, which makes the high E, normally the most difficult note on a flute, VERY much easier to play. Just adding that mechanism to the order for a new flute cost over $600 on a Powell, the last time I looked. It's probably more now. When the flute got here, one of the keys was sticking closed. It looked like a problem with rough finishing of the ends of the rods on which the keys are mounted, so I took it apart and smoothed the ends of the rods. The keys work fine now.The flute is light-weight, which is important for a child, and it plays very easily in all three octaves, which is also important. The sound is fine. It doesn't measure up to a Powell, but it costs more than 100 times less. For a beginner, who might not stick with the instrument, that's an important consideration. If he sticks with it, and becomes good enough, I'll give him one of my good flutes when he is 18 or so.Anyone buying a flute should be aware that they have to be serviced periodically. In my case that's roughly every two years. Service will cost more than the purchase price of this flute. A complete overhaul for a Haynes or Powell is currently about $1200, but the cost for a beginner's instrument is a lot less. My instruments go to Sherrie Lee in Grand Junction, CO, but there are many other good repair shops, all over the country. I had very bad luck the two times I took an instrument to a local music shore for repair. Find a good flute specialist and send it there; playing on a poorly adjusted instrument is difficult and very discouraging.
