This item works just like it is supposed to if you install it correctly. Installation is easy and adjustment for lining it up is fairly simple. The key seems to take a bit to put in but that happens with new locks anyway and i am seldom under my hood unless I need to be so that is fine. I guess if someone were able to rip your grill off of the Jeep then they could pop the hood but then I think you have a bigger issue if they are doing that...LOL This item does exactly what it is intended to do and for the price it adds plenty of sercurity for your engine compartment.

Didn't come with any instructions at all, which was irritating.I'm a mechanical l novice, but for my 2023 4xe I needed a t27 bit to get the factory screws out, a t30 for the supplied screws, and the lock needs to be mounted behind the little brace bars on the frame, not just on the front, otherwise it won't make contact with the hood latch. Other than that YouTube instructions will do.

It fits on 2019 JL without any issues. Easy to install in about 10 minutes max. If this item is installed correctly there is no way you get your hands and fingers under the hood to unlatch it. I have average size hands and I cannot reach the latch while locked. There is simply not enough room for your hands and fingers to fit. Some may, if they are motivated enough, be able to defeat it with other items but it will take time. This gives me a little more peace of mind.

Installed easily. But not a security device. More of a nuisance for thief. Can open with screwdriver or just the tip of the key, full key insertion not needed. I adjusted it as much as I could to keep it from opening without the key but to no avail. Not recommended for hood security.

This appears to be a good deterrent overall. There are no instructions in the box, and the instruction image in the product description on Amazon only tells part of the story. There are YouTube videos on removing the grill though that are helpful. In particular once you remove the clips on the top you need to pull the grill quite hard toward the front of the car to unclip it near the bottom and under the lights. Note that the two machine screws that are removed from the cross bars in order to install the lock are too short once the lock is inserted between the frame and the cross bars. They only engage by a few mm so there is a risk of stripping the threads if you tighten them. These are M6x1.0 threads and are 20mm long. I replaced mine with 30mm ones and these go all the way through. Also there is no mention, but the original machine screws have blue thread lock on them and when reinstalling the screws, I also used thread lock to avoid them vibrating loose. Second, the machine screws that allow you to adjust the up and down position of the lock to line up the keyhole to the grill spaces should have thread lock in my opinion. Thus, I think the package should come with new 30mm machine screws, washers, and some thread lock - else I would recommend you get these to install this. After that it works fairly well. One other reviewer noted that you can insert your hand through the latch and push the lock over. This is true, however I found that once the front grill was installed, it is pretty tight to get your had in far enough to get your fingers into the latch and push the locking are over. I suppose with a coat hanger or some additional tools, or by breaking the front grill one could get around this lock. It is not fail safe but it is a deterrent for the common thief looking to poke around under your hood or to quickly cut your horn for the alarm. It will slow them down in the least and hopefully make them move on. I do like the fact that the grill does not need to be cut and the keyhole just hides nicely behind the grill. Overall I recommend it, but with the modification to change the machine screws to 30mm so they do not strip when tightened properly.

Easy to install. Lock is very discreet. I’m still waiting to see how it goes in the winter when I need to fill my anti-freeze. Hopefully I can unlock and pop the hood open!

I dont like the extra key, but i love that I dont have to cut my Gladiator Grill to fit the keyhole like other brands, it’s discrete, and looks clean!Pros: keeps current grill, looks clean, easy install no extra tools, and heavy duty.Cons: need to carry an extra big key, and key doesn’t go smoothly, you have to twist to the right to enter the key.

Fue sumamente fácil de instalar. No tuve que remover la parrilla, simplemente quitarle los sujetadores plásticos y halarla un poco hacia el frente. Luego le ajusté la altura del cerrojo para centralizarlo con el hueco de la parrilla para poder entrar la llave sin dificultad. Lo recomiendo, es de buena calidad y realmente funciona.
