Like not having to cut or tear patches out of old cloth. Saves time, less strings, residue in barrel. Perfect size to clean barrel without missing spots with a small homemade patch, or getting stuck with one too big.

I prefer the 1 inch or 1-1/8" square sizes for .22 caliber. The tighter fit wipes the bore better. These don't seem to fray, and or shed and the bag is reseal-able which is nice. If you are cleaning them correctly, you will use a lot of patches. Don't forget to put a few drops of oil on the last clean one to protect the bore.

I have been using these patches for years and they are easy to use. My only complaint is that they sometimes leave some fibers/cotton fragments behind in the bore. Still worth it, but also bought the synthetic ones from Hoppes to use as well.

Can't beat Hoppe's quality. You might think "a patch is a patch." The last batch I bought were from another company and cheaper. "Good enough," I thought. Wrong. They were irregular in size and apparently made of varying rag stock. Some were soft and fluffy, others hard and not absorbent. Some had regular edges, others were frayed. This time, I spent a little more and got a consistent, high quality product. The Hoppe's patches are uniform, of good absorbency and of good firmness. That is elementary, but you get what you pay for, and the cheap patches were an annoyance and a poor pursuit of economy. Hoppe's patches do the job perfectly, and I don't notice them any more. I don't think that I am supposed to notice them.
