Great idea. Not nearly strurdy enough.Spead knuckle enough to spray penatrant and moved ⅛ inch then failed. Also difficult ro hold while spreading knuckle I used vice grips. Returning this garbage.

You don't "HAVE" to have this tool but it sure is nicer than the old way. Nothing pops out while you are working on releasing strut and it seems to stress the knuckle less.

Your going to wonder where this tool has been all your life. Whoever invented this did a great job! It makes the removal and install job so much easier. Built from Quality materials. Keep it oiled and it should last a lifetime.

I can't recommend this enough. After doing front shocks without this tool and messing with different wedges, twisting screwdrivers, chisels and spindle opening sockets that didn't work I'm happy I found this tool. It is very robust. It is a very simple design as well. Just wedge in and turn the bolt to spread. It does mention hydraulic but I'm not sure what that's referring to (maybe the shock absorber itself?) it's just the base and bolt part. There is no hydraulic fluid of any kind in this tool. That said it works well enough on it's own. If you're doing shocks save yourself the headache it's definitely worth it.

When it comes to changing a strut, prying the hub carrier open to get the strut to move is usually a drag. There's not enough room for a proper pry bar in there, and a screwdriver is just going to get bent. This tool made short work of loosening a strut on my wife's 2021 Jeep Cherokee to raise the suspension a bit. Made a 10 minute fight into less than a minute with this tool It will come in handy on all sorts of different applications, not just for struts.Quality of construction is quite good and it's easy to use. It appears durable enough to handle any reasonable application of force. Highly recommend!

As a professional automotive technician I use tools on a daily basis, both at work and at home. I am always on the lookout for good quality tools at reasonable prices to expand my collections. This tool meets that criteria well.This tool appears very well constructed and is made of aluminum and steel. The tool comes in very handy on some strut replacement jobs on vehicles with clamping knuckles. The body of the tool has flats for a wrench to hold the tool while turning the screw with another wrench. I have one at work and at home now and they work great. It sure beats trying to wedge a chisel into the knuckle. I give this tool 5 stars.
