I've been playing for a quite a while professionally in live and studio environments but took some time off and sold everything about 2 years ago. I recently decided to pick things back up and do some home recording to build my chops back up. I have a main guitar but wanted to a hardtail HH guitar and found the IYV. After reading the reviews, I pulled the trigger and received the guitar a few days later. The box was a little damaged upon arrival but no damage to the guitar. Out of the box, it needed minor work... Frets needed light filing/sanding, fretboard needed some lemon juice, strings needed to be changed and the intonation needed minor adjustments. (Side note - I think all guitarist should learn how to set up their guitar as it will save you thousands, you'll be able to set up the guitar exactly the way you like it for your particular style and approach and you'll have a better understanding of your instrument.)I'm very impressed with this guitar, regardless of the price. Sounds great and plays very well, smooth and well balanced across the neck and pick up configuration. It's a fraction of the cost of a real PRS and you could easily get an IYV Strat, LP, and Tele for the price of one name brand axe. From the other reviews I've read on those guitars, I think that's the route I'm going to go.Once you reach a certain point in your playing, you can make any decent guitar sound great and if you have the luthier skills to set up your guitar, you can make it just as easy to play as a Suhr or any custom shop Fender or Gibson. It's easy to get caught up with G.A.S. but honestly, save your money and put more time into learning how to set up your guitar, upgrade parts and practice more and you'll be a better well rounded guitarist. Play because you love music, not because you want the latest and greatest gear to appear like you're a pro. Nothing worse than when a guy shows up to a jam or gig with great gear but sounds like their fingers are broken.

I was pleasantly surprised with this guitar. It was returned by someone to Amazon so I got it as a Returned Item and a few bucks off. I was worried why it was returned, but there doesn't appear to be any obvious reason why it was returned. The fit and finish is quite good. I found no flaws. I'm not sue if the top is a photo or real maple top, but it looks great. The neck is nice, and feels good to play. I'm not sure what wood The fretboard is made with, is a lighter brown colour but the finish was good except in fret 1 near the low E, a bit rough. It's a bigger neck than most guitars I own, probably more like a Gibson 50s style neck. But I like it.The nut is a cheap plastic piece and needs replacing with some kind of up grade. The strings were bad and I replaced them. I went to lower the action and went to remove some neck relief but there's not tension on the truss rod. So I got to look into that a bit more, but I lowered the bridge height and the action is nice with no buzzing. The pickups are okay, and a medium output sound.I might change the bridge pickup one of these days along with the nut but it's quite playable right from the factory other than the strings needing replacing.

This IYV IP-350 is an incredible value for under $240.The finish looks great and uncommon. Although, you can tell it’s not an expensive guitar finish, there are no particular flaws or defects. If you know how to do final polish, you can make this guitar really shine. I like the scale length, right in the middle of Fender & Gibson. The neck is probably my favorite part other than the overall look of the guitar. It’s pretty thick, not vintage Gibson baseball bat thick, but certainly not a slim taper that is the bane of my guitar shopping as I have fairly large hands. It was very much playable as is. The neck width is pretty much in line with Gibson/Epiphone measuring 43.63mm at the nut, which is only 0.02mm narrower than my Gibson Les Paul. The strings were even worse than most inexpensive guitars. If there is a place to cheap out on a guitar it’s strings, pickups, and tuning gears since that is what most guitar players are likely to change at some point whether it’s needed or not lol.The hardware is pretty good, the pickups actually sound great for clean or light overdrive, but are quite microphonic at high gain overdrive/distortion. As I mentioned before, no big deal, they do the job and are easy to replace later.Overall great guitar for the price, good for beginners (though this may vary depending which one you get), but especially good for experienced players that can do basic work on guitars and just want another style, color, scale length, pickup configuration, etc…like we really need an excuse to get a new guitar right!

I highly recommend this IYV 6 String IP-350 guitar. I do not buy guitars to look at them, I buy them to play and perform. This is my 2nd IYV guitar, and I bought it because I was very satisfied after purchasing an IYV IJZ-300 TSB. For beginners this IYV 6 String IP-350 guitar is playable right out of the box after tuning. I did not find any noticeable finish flaws and this guitar is a looker and has caught the attention of numerous musicians with the way the strings are configured. Most all guitars require some setup, and both IYV guitars I have purchased required modifications to meet my personal suitability and playing style. I enjoy setting up my guitars and modifying them myself. If you do not know what you are doing, I would highly recommend NOT doing any setup and modifications yourself and suggest taking the guitar to have it setup and modified professionally.I realized this is a really good guitar worthy of investing a little more money for customization. IYV guitars are solid and well-crafted making such modifications easy for me. Here are the changes and modifications I made: I changed the tuners with Chrome Grover 305C Mid-size Rotomatic 18:1 3x3 tuners. Next, I replaced the bridge with a GM005 Chrome Guyker Guitar Tune-O-Matic Roller Saddle Bridge, and it fit perfectly. I used the original bridge posts, and this is the 2nd IYV guitar with lose bridge post adjusting screws. Applying Teflon tape easily fixed that looseness.I would recommend changing the strings. I personally prefer D'Addario 12 Flat Wounds. This required a little filing on the nut for the strings. It also required filing the first three frets down to keep low action with no buzz. No Truss rod adjustments were necessary. You can avoid filing the nuts and frets by using 9- or 10-gauge strings, but I prefer heavier gauge strings. I then took the opportunity to apply a little lemon oil to the fretboard. The intonation was adjusted and accomplished easily, and I did make some adjustments to the pickup height. All parts and everything needed to accomplish customizing the IYV 6 String IP-350 into "your guitar" is available on Amazon, the result is an easily modified guitar customized to your personal liking. The ease of playability is really good at least for me. Don't be fooled into believing this guitar is a cheap, poor-quality guitar because the price is so reasonable. The IYV 6 String IP-350 is a well-crafted quality guitar.

My rating is based on it being a guitar that sells for $266.00 CDN delivered to my door. From reading reviews it is clear there are some quality control issues, my review is based on the one that showed up at my door. It has some very minor cosmetic blemishes that don't impact playability at all. None of my friends could even find them until I pointed them out. It is surprisingly light, my LP, which is mahogany, weighs in at 11 1/2 lbs, this guitar is probably in the 7 lb range. The pickups sound great to me and really take gain well. The fret work on mine was great, the grain on the fretboard looks as good as an Epi LP that I paid twice as much for 18 years ago. Does it need a setup? Of course it does, in 30+ years of buying guitars including new name brand guitars I have never bought one that didn't. Is the fretboard dry? Yup it is but that is such an easy fix I don't know why people even bring it up. Yes the strings are horrible and the action is too high but right out of the box it was still quite playable and as I said I tend to expect to have to do some tweaks on any guitar I buy. If I had received a dud I would have returned it and kept trying until I got a keeper as the value is definitely there when you get a good one. If you are expecting PRS quality buy a PRS, if you are looking for a very affordable clone this one fills the bill nicely IMO. I am more than happy with this guitar and would recommend it to friends with the understanding it may take a few to find that keeper.

The playability at this price point is just superb. Yes, the electronic hardware, tuners and action can be improved but these are easily tweaked/replaced. Very happy that they put most of the effort into the neck and alignment giving us a superb playing guitar (also the hardest to fix). In summary, this is an excellent playing and sounding guitar which i'd happily go live with. Those that demand cosmetic perfection for the price point are dreaming and misplaced.
