Good wire rope puller. The only issue we have is the handle to open the jaw is pretty stiff. We believe this is because it is brand new. But it works great otherwise.

I've used a couple different griphoist brand wire pullers with our local trail organizations, but kept searching the used listings since I just couldn't justify the full high price to put one in my shed. When this came up for a great price, I bought it. The only problem was the version I got for a great deal didn't come with a cable, and the Jet cables weren't available separately at the time, so I had to pick up a "7/16" cable here. 7/16 is much more rare than 3/8" or 1/2", so there weren't many choices. I bought "Mophorn Winch Cable 7/16Inch x 100Ft Replacement Wire Rope 4400LBS Fiber Core Self Locking Swivel Hook", and it seemed to work, along with actually being 130 feet, which added weight but gave some extra length for really long pulls. It worked ok for some smaller things, but when we used it on the trail to move a 2000lbs rock this year, it was pulling forward on the forward stroke, and letting off on the return stroke. I took it apart, lubed it, and tried it on some roots. I hit the same issue. Then I took a pair of calipers to the wire, and found out it was really 3/8", not the 7/16" I had ordered! The Jet cable is now available here, so I bought a length, and it actually is 7/16". We just used it on the trail with a 1000lbs rock, and it worked great. The unit itself is about 28lbs, the handle is about 5 lbs, and the Jet wire and basket is about 25lbs. All 3 on the scale, and with only one spare shear pin taped on, the scale said 59.8 lbs.Make sure you have the right cable. The handle seems heavy for what it is. The only negative I have with the unit is that the cover on the handle popped off and the spare shear pins fell. I found 3 and taped one of them to the side, but another 1 or 2 must be hidden under something. Personally I'd keep a couple at home, and tape the caps on so they don't pop off. This wire puller makes it easy to pull heavy things, and easy to pull or release. It doesn't look as slick as a griphoist, but it's only 10-20% of the cost. There are many of these clones out there, and I've recommended a different one to some friends, but this is the one I have used and personally tested.

Heavy cable puller with a ton a cable. Pin would not go through supplied hook. I had to file the weld to allow the pin to fit though so I could attach the hook to the puller. Quality assurance is lacking...

Easy to set up-just put rope in and work the lever. Nice light unit-had to replace a similar unit I purchased 10 years ago. Perfect size for my floating dock.

When you have a long pull, it's great not to have to reset every few yards. This is one heavy piece of machinery. Over 120 lbs with cable. (Free shipping is amazing.)It needs lubrication with oil before first use.The T-handled release lever takes a LOT of force to move. I had to put the unit on end so I could use my body weight. I may add a modified handle. The puller is made in China, so I opened it up to get out the inevitable big chunk of swarf that was just waiting to jam the mechanism..When they say "ASA" wire rope, that is a brand made in India, not some standard.I think it is a wire core type, as I read somewhere that you would not want a compressible core wire rope because the clamps would not hold it right. The rated working capacity seems to vary depending on the source. The Jet website said 11,000 lbs when pulling, but I would trust better the manual that says 3 tons. The hook on the cable says 3.2 metric tons. The 5/8 inch cable is oversized for the rated load, but is needed for the friction.

Well made and effective for what it was designed to do. Effortlessly lifted a 500lb+/- overhead load, and lowered it 20'. I am well pleased with this unit.
