This is one of the best things I've ever purchased. I got it on a sort of whim for my birthday a few months ago without realizing how much I needed it in my life. I've played various instruments on and off over the years (I'm a dabbler, not necessarily good at music, but I like playing it), particularly the keyboard, so I have some experience, though I don't think you'd need any to play this. I always struggle with my left hand, though, which is kind of a limiting factor. There's nothing wrong with it - it's just so much slower and has so much less dexterity than my right. But not with this! You just use your thumbs, and my left thumb is able to keep up with my right one.And this kalimba sounds BEAUTIFUL, like a music box. (I chose this one based on another review where someone posted a video of how it sounds.) Playing it is just so fun and calming and always cheers me up. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed playing music, and this kalimba has quickly become my favorite instrument. It's portable, you can pick it up and play it whenever, and it requires very little maintenance, if any. Since getting this, I've tried a few other kalimbas, including another, more expensive flatboard one we got with more keys, which I like well enough, but this kalimba is still my favorite and is the one I keep at my desk. (My wife loves the other one and plays it, so it's worked out well, lol.)The picture is it sitting in a stand I got on Etsy, though the stickers are the ones that came with it.

This Kalimba has a clear sound. The finish on the kalimba is smooth and feels nice in my hands. The shape of the sloped board is comfortable to hold and easy to reach to the center C tine, with my small to average hand size. It was well tuned out of the box and only needed one tine slightly corrected, which was easy to do. I liked the handle placement on the case, better than a wristlet style for me.

Such a sweet sound, these solid body kalimbas are really so good for sweet sound as compared to the hollow body ones. Highly recommended!

I love my new Kalimba. The wood and stain are beautiful, smooth and evenly stained. It was almost perfectly tuned right out of the box. I would definitely recommend it!
