This is by no means any comparison to a hard shell roof storage case, but it's also much less expensive but still is sturdy protection for your luggage. It has (3) tie downs on each side to connect to your automobile railing. The middle tie downs are about 1 inch wide with a snap buckle so you can loop around the rail and buckle strap together then tighten with adjustment buckle. The two outside tie downs are about 1 1/2 inches wide and are one continuous strap that goes completely over the back from side to side. It connects and tightens the same with buckles. One bad review says they would not trust it because it is held in place with Velcro. Maybe they updated it, but the one I got has NO Velcro, but rather solid buckles. Anyway I think I would probably still throw a couple like motorcycle tie down straps over it as well to make sure it is secure, but that is just me. I am overly couscous.

I have several cargo bags of this type and this is amongst the best! I use these types of bags in a lot of ways and I'm a big fan of them. Most of the time I'm not actually using these on the roof of a car, although I have done so. Most of the time I'm using them in my open trailer or bed of my pickup truck for vacation and camping trips. This way I know, no matter how bad the weather, I'll arrive with dry suitcases, sleeping bags, toiletries, etc...This one is very well-made, with heavy-duty material and zippers. The overlap of the top of the bag to keep the zippers from getting wet is plenty large. The tie-downs are solid and the attachments at the top of the bag are well-sewn. The price is very good for a bag this size and quality.Whether you're putting this on the roof of your car or using it in a trailer or pickup bed you're going to be very happy with this cargo bag.

This roof storage unit is an essential accessory for travelers. It is designed for easy installation on the top of your truck, providing a durable solution for transporting luggage without the worry of it flying off during transit. Its sleek exterior minimizes wind resistance, preventing the cumbersome effect often associated with larger cargo carriers. Additionally, the unit offers ample storage space, accommodating all your luggage and thereby freeing up room in the cabin for a more comfortable trip. I highly recommended adding this storage space to enhance your travel experience.

As long as the insulation can be slipped off your car door and it isn't glued, left NO MARKS on my daughter's eclipse. Handled easily an 8 hour drive in rough weather and wind...

Needed a new bag for our trip from Northern california to San Diego for Comic Con. The bag handled the trip like a champ. Loaded it with 4 duffel bags. It seemed durable. It was much easier to use than previous one we had. Built in Staps. Flaps that covered zipper and velcro to keep straps from flapping around. Didnt rain, but did have triple digit heat, held up well.

Solid cargo bag … survived our 1,115 mile drive home at 85mph … but I did add two 10 foot cam buckle straps and two 12 foot cam buckle straps … just to make sure.
