This cleaver will easily chop through the bones of poultry. Let's get that out of the way first. The weight in the head of the cleaver is like a hammer, allowing you to get some momentum in your swings and swiftly chop through chicken ribs, breast bones, and spines.This isn't the knife for cutting onions. I tried; you can do it. Especially if you're choping. But the thickness and width of the blade isn't ideal for slicing.The right tool for the right job, right? Still, the weight makes this cleaver versatile. You can flatten a chicken breast with the side of the blade.The sight of this cleaver is impressive. My wife gasped when she saw it. So there's that. It will likely make an appearance at my next summer outdoor steak extravaganza.

You can do some serious chopping through bones with this thing. I'm using it in the kitchen for ribs, chicken and turkey. I store it in a Cleaver Sheath, Universal Wide Knife Protector I also found on Amazon. It's a perfect fit.

Sharp out of the box, well balanced. Has enough weight to do basic butchering. You're not gonna butcher a moose with this, but great for everyday kitchen use.
