I love the idea of not having to lock my front wheel and having enough length on my bike lock, or using a secondary lock. I bought this for my Lectric brand e-bike and it fits perfect, EXCEPT the safety washer on my bike was a hair too thick to allow the WheelNutz to fully tighten down and engage the locking teeth.Solution: I bought some generic safety washers that happened to be less robust and shaped a hair thinner at its peak. This allowed the WheelNutz to fully lock down. Some bikes don't use safety washers, so you would be fine. I think it is the E-bikes that mainly use them. But a solid lock! I love that I don't need a key, just flip the bike upside down and loosen the nut. Brilliant.

I had it on for like a month. Then had to take the wheel off to fit my bike in my car. Went to put it back on and the nut would no longer tighten. Barely used any force trying to tighten it and now it spins and clicks when I try to tighten it. Now it’s more worthless than a regular nut

I've installed this on a Shimano Nexus 8 speed hub, with a little bit of added effort. Because the Wheel Nutz and the Nexus both rely on their own no-turn washers that engage with the bike's dropout; both washers compete for the same space between the frame and the nut, and can't be stacked. To make this work, I had to create a custom no-turn washer for the Nexus that sits between the frame and the Wheel Nutz, replacing the stock Shimano washer. My custom washer includes a slot for the Kryptonite washer's tab to engage with, but is otherwise a flat surface for the Kryptonite washer to be pressed flush against.Years ago, Nexus hubs only used a no-turn washer on the drive side, but this was in the 3 to 7 speed days. I wouldn't recommend skipping a no-turn washer on the non-drive side to make room for the Wheel Nut, because with additional gear range comes increased torque loads on the frame and washer, potentially leading to something failing. As for the Wheel Nutz itself, it works pretty well, as described. It doesn't always engage right away -- in other words, there are instances where I can loosen the nut without flipping the bike upside down. But if, after tightening, I check for engagement by attempting to slightly loosen the nut, and notice it hasn't engaged, then a slight amount more tightening will do the trick.Once engaged, the nut attempts to turn the no-turn washer, which is locked into the dropout and therefore immobile. However, the no-turn washer is made of aluminum. And while there are plenty of pawls to lock it securely to the washer, the tab that extends down and engages the frame (or in this case my custom no-turn washer), seems to be a weak point.I'm not going to test this theory, but I suspect a willing thief with a long enough 15mm wrench and/or force would have little trouble sheering Kryptonite's aluminum washer, completely defeating this system. So I will continue to use these Wheel Nutz as a secondary deterrent in combination with an appropriate lock. My Nexus wheel is already a chore to remove what with the coaster brake, shifter cable, and fender all in the way. The Kryptonite Wheel Nutz are just part of the picture.

I'll start by saying that the idea is awesome. This product 'should' allow me to comfortably keep my rear wheel and frame locked with my ulock without having to worry about locking the front wheel. However there are some design flaws that need to be addressed. The locking nut has a slightly LARGER diameter than your standard flanged axel nut. This means it would not fit flush with the seating in the fork's dropout. After trying to unthread the locking nut while the bike was upright the locking mechanism DID work. BUT! The toothed ring's dropout 'tab' is too short. So this tab started scraping the inside of the dropout seating. In a few rotations I was able to forcably remove the locking nut and free my front wheel with ease.In my case a thief can still force the locked nut to unthread. If your fork is made of carbon, the forced unthreading may even crack the dropout and ruin your fork.@Kryptonite. Please consider:- A longer dropout tab on the orange 'toothed' ring- The diameter of the orange ring be equal to a flanged 3/8'' axel nut's base diameter.I would still recommend this product if you have a steel fork and don't mind hammering the orange ring into the dropout seating if it doesn't fit. For anyone else, keep your fingers crossed for a more modernized version of this product.

Finally!! I can't tell you how long I have been searching for a product that would prevent wheel theft on my bicycles that do not have quick release sized skewers. I see a lot of wheel theft in my area, and the only security measure I have had to keep my wheels safe is carrying a second lock. These locking wheel nuts appear to be the real deal. When the bike is upright you cannot loosen these nuts. I suppose there may be a way for a determined thief to still get these off. However, I just try to make it as difficult as possible for a thief to rip me off, and these will help. The nuts are simple to install, and they look nice of my single speed. When you want to remove your wheel, just flip your bike upside down. I plan to order another set for my cruiser bicycle that has fancy wheels. Only one nut comes per pack, so you have to order two per bike. Thank you Kryptonite for taking the time to make this product, you are ahead of the curve!

Great product! Quality feel and design! Finish seems to be durable and long lasting! Kryptonite is the way to go! Very straight forward instructions and installation. Looks good on my single speed bicycle! Extra step to ward off thievery. Keeps your front wheel setup on your bike while you have it parked! Make sure to chain/lock your bike properly using primary locks; these wheelnutz only protect the wheel from being removed when the bike is chained/locked properly. Make sure to torque these nuts on with the recommend torque rating in the instructions. I received them in the mail on an average expected delivery time 4-8 business days! Received it on the 4th day so it was quite quick! Came sealed with original box and packaging. I scooped them up for wayyy cheaper on Amazon than any other site I found them at. Does not included Kryptonites theft insurance option since they are not a primary or secondary security measure. Well worth purchasing!
