Tool appears to be well built, all of the parts for together snuggly when assembled.I'd give 5 stars, but the tool ships with what you'd think was a rubber coating on the compressor jaws, however, the yellow stuff is a just plastic, not a nice compressible plastic either, some stiff thin stuff. This one, all the same, has nicer machining than a couple of the others I've seen on Amazon and the price was better.I'll update the review as I use the tool to advise on longevity and ease of use together with any safety concerns that may arise.

This tool doesn't even compare to the regular two piece rods tool you buy from any auto parts store. Very solid rod. Very easy to compress manually and got the job done so quick in my BMW springs which required compressing them significantly. But there is one flow . There is no safety in case the spring slip. I had one coil not seated 100% and slipped while the spring full compressed. I was lucky didn't hit me or any car otherwise would have caused serious damage. I was very careful to work in an open space with nothing around me and I stayed away from the direction of the spring. But working on springs is very dangerous in generalso next time I work with this tool I'll make sure when the spring is compressed I will put the regular clamps on the sides of the spring so in case the spring slip, it doesn't fly.But the tool looks very solid and compressed the massive spring effortlessly
