I purchased (2) new KYB struts and (2) new KYB shocks for my sons car because they carried a Lifetime Warranty. One of the struts has recently failed and KYB won't honor the warranty because it was sold by a 3rd party seller on Amazon. Stay away from KYB.

2005 outback xt. Mounted right up. I dont know really how they compare to stock struts because my stock struts were like 170k old so they were pretty bad. Seems to be of good quality would recommend.

Significant improvement in handling after installation on a Subaru Outback. If I did it over again I would also replace the Upper Mount units for the strut assemblies which contain a bearing.Compressing the front springs on a 2005 Outback was extremely challenging due to the size of the springs and difficulty getting a high placement on the coils. Used two different types of spring compressors. 3 or 4 of them at a time. Finally, for safety considerations, brought it to the local tire store. Did the rear coils first as practice after reading they were easier. They were.Highly recommend marking struts, coils and all upper mount parts with a paint pen for simpler re-assembly. Also be sure to mark the position of the upper bolt on Subarus because it is a camber bolt that will change your alignment if not re-assembled in the same position.

The shocks are great though I confirm that standard coil compressors will not work on an 07 outback.. I ended up bringing both struts down to a local Subaru shop who where kind enough to swap out the old shocks with the new for $90 labor, perform the alignment (another $90) and get me back on the road again in one day. Others may be able to get the compressors to work but it was not feasible or worth the physical risk to force it myself.

Great quality, fits 2007 subaru Outback Legacy 2.5i wagon front.Way too hard for me to ever do again. The coils are too short and the whole thing to tight to easily compress the spring. A short compressor won't compress them enough and a long compressor won't fit and needs to be hammered off the coils. I got it done using straps and methods I won't mention here, but suffice to say I was dangerous and I am too stubborn.4 stars not for quality but for my lack of ability

Fit My 2006 Subaru Outback 2.5i as listed on Amazons Parts guild. (DIY Guys) I Recommend that you use a Strut Compression tool versa spring compression clamps as on this model car, because the small springs and strut frame only allow room for the spring clamps to only compress three of the coils, This made it tough to compress the spring enough to start the upper Nut which attaches the strut mount. This problem exist on both sides.

KYB makes the struts for Subaru. The OEM ones are a little squishy, leading to an uncontrolled feel. The aftermarket KYBs have a different valving to them which gives them a stiffer, more sporty feel that doesn't alter the handling or feel of the Outback. The Outback's ride is much improved with the aftermarket KYBs.

This was purchased and installed on a 2005 Subaru Outback. Although the picture is of a standard shock, this was the correct strut assembly with spring perch and lower knuckle mounting bolts. No problem with install, included top nut was a nylock of high quality. Ride quality is OEM spec.
