Ride Comfort may be important, but restoring a vehicle’s Ride Control; stability, stopping, lane change responsiveness and handling is critical. KYB Excel-G Shocks & Struts are designed for the most important performance purpose: Restoring the vehicle’s original capabilities. KYB is a world leading supplier of shocks and struts to new vehicle manufacturers and the Excel-G is made on the very same KYB OE assembly lines, uses the same OE quality components and is calibrated to restore original, designed performance, not change it. That has earned Excel-G the classification: OEA (Original Equipment for the Aftermarket). The KYB Excel-G is a nitrogen gas-charged, twin-tube design that includes every quality component that our global OEM products include and it is the preferred choice for Asian vehicles.

I replaced the rear shocks on my 2012 Honda Civic EX this morning. I replaced them with KYB 348067 shocks. It took me about an hour and 15 from start to finish because I used a regular 14mm wrench (a ratcheting one would be so useful here) for the nut on top. The nut on top and the bolt on the bottom are both 14mm. You should use a floor jack to give yourself some clearance because it makes it much easier. You will need a hex screwdriver or something to prevent the shaft from turning as you loosen the top nut. As you can see in my photo, I put my screwdriver in there and just let butt up against the body. The bolt on the bottom wasn't hard to remove but it was a bit of a pain getting back in. You really have to get the shock and frame aligned perfectly. I used a screwdriver in the bolt hole against the frame to help position and align the shock. That's much easier than trying to align it by hand. You should push the bolt in as far as it will go and try to get the thread started by hand first. Once I got the thread started, the rest was easy using a 14mm socket and ratchet. The right one was more problematic than the left for some reason. I like the way Honda designed this because it seems like the thought of doing everything one-handed was in mind. The shocks feel much better on the road.

KYB manufactures shocks and struts for Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infinity and Toyota/Lexux. Whenever the OEM part is not available, KYB is an excellent substitute. They last much longer than cheaper brand named shocks and struts.

I had ordered Monroe, but the Monroe did not have the inset for an allen wrench on the top of the shock. I am returning the Monroe. These KYB were a perfect fit, and the inset for the allen wrench was there. It made removing the old shock easier and will make removing these new shocks easier some day in the future. Very easy installation.

It is what it is. And it works for my Honda. The package arrived with no metal washers or rubber boots. An email to the supplier was promptly answered and they said to use the originals. That's what I had to do. But, for the price these should include these new parts.
