Larsen Tzigane violin strings, without exaggerated tension, are built on a newly developed composite fibre bundle core. Tension creates volume rather than carrying power. The unique combination of overtones makes for a quality sound not unlike that of a great singer - a sound that carries while, at the same time, is pleasant to the ear of the player. Tzigane strings offer a sound and response similar to gut strings, providing a broad range of tonal colors. A complex, rich tone with good focus and projection.

I do have to say that Larsen Tizagnes sound extremely good. Well ballanced, warm expressive tone string to string, yet lively and responds well to dynamics. Now down to my problem. It's not with the string, it's with the seller, House of Rosin. I orderded these several weeks ago and never received them. Let me expand. I was due to have 3 packages delivered on Sept 9th, 2023, the 2 we did get were marked delivered on porch, which makes sense owing to the fact NO ONE was present to accept a hand delivered package, yet this package was suppssedly hand delivered to recipient, when NO ONE WAS HERE TO RECEIVE IT. I sent numerous messages to House of Rosin to initiate a replacement, but received absolutely no response from them. I contacted Amazon customer service who said they would help, but still there is no communication or action. So, long and short of it is, this is a GREAT string!!! Not recomending you purchase from this seller though, because if you were to have a similar problem... well... my words speak volumes.

My d string and a string show signs of use. String makers are playing Amazon customer by selling slightly used strings. Here you can see my brand new set which arrived today has a brown d string like someone already sweat all over it.My a string was bent seemingly at the bridge and scroll areas of the string. Don't buy these strings on Amazon.

Love all of the strings except the A. The a string looked like it had not been wound correctly and produced a very tiny tone whit h I hated. Overall, I think Tziganes are a great choice!

My favorite set of strings. Also, the best E string on the planet, in my opinion.

I've tried Larsen Tziganes on my two violins and got varied impressions on the different instruments. In both cases, I got a big sound, and they held pitch well over many hours of playing. In short, they're good, but not for everyone. With the Tziganes on my "better" instrument a beat-up 1860's(?) French(?) violin, the sound was kind of honky under my ear, though stable for months on end. The E kept on whistling; an old E from the Obligato set was easier for me to manage with Tziganes on the other strings. To me ear, the sound was never warm or complex as the Pirastro Obligatos I've used for several years. On the positive side, there was the big sound, and the low string tension made the Tziganes easier to tune slip-free than the Obligatos. I've since returned to a full Obligato set.On my "travelling" violin, a 1970s Meisel previously strung with Thomastik Dominants, I am definitely happier with the Tziganes. Fingering is easier than the Dominants, and there seems to be more warmth and personality in the sound. I'm keeping the Tziganes on that instrument.
