When it comes to percussion, trust LP. This Mini-Cabasa is actually very punchy and loud. I ordered the Standard sized one to compete with a drum set, but this one goes fine with small drums, like Bongos, Djembe and Cajon.

Very Small and light..... suitable for people with small hands or children- good for acoustic sessions, as not particularly loud, due to size, 'Mini' is a good description!!.....can make a nice variety of tones and sounds..... ☺

Smaller than I expected but fits easily in my trumpet mute bag and gives me something to do when the brass is resting. Could use another band or 2 of beads. Sounds good too.

As of Mar. 3, 2015, this Afuche/Cabasa Mini is described as being more than 8" long and more than 3" wide. It is, in fact, just 6" long and under 3" wide, that is, about 3/4 of the size claimed. If that is the size you are looking for, it is a nice little instrument. I have contacted the seller, who promises to have Amazon correct the specifications.

I head a small quartet (I'm on trumpet/flugelhorn), and a keyboardist, vocalist, and drummer fill out the quartet. When we perform Bossa and other Latin tunes I wanted something to use to add a little rhythm enhancement other than just shaking eggs. This Cabasa fits the bill perfectly. It can create a variety of sounds, it's easy to learn to use almost immediately, and I'm very happy with it. Well worth the price!

I've had the large version of this for a long time and after a while, my arm gets tired. This is much lighter and easier on my arm - but the sound still cuts through with no problem.
